session 9

finally saw session 9 on dvd last night and was very impressed.
a genuinely creepy movie that had constant menace to it which kept me glued to the screen. this film deserved far more publicity than it received on it's release.let's hope the makers of this gem can come up with another original film and get the backing they deserve.

I, for one, loved this movie. Its was great to finally see a film that realized we've all seen thriller / suspense before and dont need our hands held the entire time. That we can figure things out while watching what goes on on-screen.

M. Night Shyamalan ought to be strapped to a chair and have his eyes held open with toothpicks ala "A Clockwork Orange" and be forced to watch this film for several days on end before being allowed to force the moviegoing public to sit through another unending piece of dreck he calls film making.

Maybe then he would learn what suspense, mystery, foreshadowing, and delivery really are.

Simple version, without giving anything away, a construction team goes into an old abandoned insane asylum, to do asbestos removal.....which they hope will revitalize their failing business, and bad things begin to happen. While doing their work, one of the workers stumbles upon and old records room containing medical records, notes and recorded sessions from decades past.....and he begins listening to them.....hence the movie title. More than that and I move into spoiler territory.

A couple of things to note, the writer of this film set it in a REAL abandoned insane asylum near his house, the asylum where they reportedly "perfected" the frontal lobotomy......and its filmed there as well.

Also, if you watch the extras on the DVD, you'll see some scenes that were deletd, among them, a subplot involving and insane homeless woman....which for once in life, its a great thing they pulled from the film as it would have killed the creepiness of the film.

I love this movie. Thanks for reminding me to buy it.

It is genuinely creepy.

I hate to admit it, because, as my dad would say, "I'm a grown ass man...", but, there are some moments of genuine, I need to turn the friggin light on, creepiness in this film. Bits where you KNOW a scare is coming, but, unlike other films, the surprise actually makes you jump because you cant predict it....

I should go buy this for being snowed in tomorrow.....

Where about in South Jersey are you, Graveshow? I lived there all my life.
