Good points, guys. But i still dont like him. I RESPECT his work, but i dont care for most of it.

But then again, the only Japanese horro rmovie i like so far is Audition, and i dont like Italian horror. Thought Suspiria was a waste of time.

I dare to be different. i am different and it annoys people, as opposed to being different JUST to annoy people.

actually brother ... you are daring NOT to be different ! :)
sounds like you just want the straight and narrow !

"With the exception of Eddie and myself, whom you already know, we're going to be using aliases on this job. Under no circumstances do I want any one of you to relate to each other by your Christian names, and I don't want any talk about yourself personally. That includes where you been, your wife's name, where you might've done time, or maybe a bank you robbed in St. Petersburg. All I want you guys to talk about, if you have to, is what you're going to do. That should do it. Here are your names..."
"Mr. Brown, Mr. White, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Blue, Mr. Orange, and Mr. Pink."

".....................Why am I Mr. Pink?"

"Cause you're a faggot, ok?"

".....................How about if I'm Mr. Purple? That sounds good to me, I'll be Mr. Purple."

"You're not Mr. Purple. Some guy on some other job is Mr. Purple. You're Mr. Pink!"

"Who cares what your name is?"

".....................Yeah that's easy for you to say, you're Mr. White, you have a cool sounding name. Alright look if it's no big deal to be Mr. Pink, do you wanna trade?"

"Hardy fuckin' har."

i didnt mean just Tarantino .. but for the Italian/Japanese angle as well.

I'm thinking that you arent a great fan of style over substance .. which is cool.. to each his own ... I can enjoy both ... but i really dig stylish films.

I see you as a real Lucas fan ..cut and dried .. to the point ...very linear

I'm not saying thats a bad thing .. lots of different styles out there ...

(goddamn nerds .. cant appreciate art)

oops, did i say that out loud ??!!

:D :D

Good call. i like the old star wars and indiana jones movies quite a bit.

I am a bigger Jim Cameron/Ridley Scott fan than anyone else, though.

Give me some credit, at least im not a Bruckheimer/Bay kind of guy. Oh wait, those are also style over substance. You hit the nail on the head with that one.

cameraon and scott make sense too (with the exception of scotts 'Legend') they are both very straight ahead filmmakers .. constant action - foreward movement.
(you probably like Friedkin as well ... as do I)

I like them as well, and can appreciate the pace no nonsense filmmaking ... but i really enjoy the flipside too.

I like a film that makes me sit up and go Woah ! at the action ... but i also like the trippy films that make me sit back and go woooooooooaaaaaahhhhhhh at the funkiness too.

Vodstok 01-18-2005 06:23 AM

I like trippy, sometimes. I love a lot of terry gilliam's work, especially 12 monkeys. Time bandits messed with my head as a kid. And everything Monty Python did was genius. The Life of Brian and The Holy Grail have two of the best "what the fuck?" endings ever.

tje only thing that freidkin did that i am aware that i have seen was the exorcist, but his commentary kind of destroyed him as a person for me. he is as dry as burnt toast.

I also like the nifty, neato little twisters like Fight Club, The Usual Suspects...

I really wanted to lie Memento, but it tried way too hard and not enough happened. Plus, you find out at the end that the main character is an asshole who got mad at his partner and convinced himself that he was the bad guy so he could kill him without guilt....

Although, miss "Trinity" played an AWESOME bitch in it.
