I know they're probably irreplaceable, but maybe try and claim on your home contents insurance, after getting a valid opinion on value from some sort of antique guy.... did you have any records of what was displayed, receipts or photos of the items? as now they're unidetifiable.

I feel for ya urge. i have a collection of over 200 liquor and beer bottles i have been collecting since i was 18 (10 years, going on 11), some of which are colectables, others that are just fucking odd or old. I would have a psychotic episode if anything happened to them.

But, i have a small hyperactive dog and the wife and i are working on kids, so what could possible ever happen to them? ....

yeah.. i had no records/pictures .... it sucks ..

a bit of a story to it as well ..

years abo when i was about 10 - 11 we rented a cottage on the St LAurence river .. there was a heavy rain that caused part of the steep hill that led to the water to wash away - uncovering an old 'dump' site. It was almost all bottles .. half buried in mud .. all ancient.

I dug up a large trunk full including this old glazed crock with 's.g. eastman' on it.
Well - stupid enterprising kids that we were we found an antiques dealer that gave me $30 for all the bottles (but a few i kept back for myself). so this was in the 70's.
10 years later i saw the same S. G Eastmans crock in a local museum display case.
So i kicked myself over that for years ...... but at least i kept a few.

Till now.

About 3 escaped demolition last nite. I might as well throw them on the fucking road right now so i dont have to wait for the inevitable.

the antique cabinet is solid ... it just seemed to drop right off of the screws that were holding it on the wall.

i suspect the cat jumped onto it ... its been acting weird since its brother died

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

But only one good souffle recipe that i know of for skinned cat. Put it in a blender and it makes a good health shake, though.

you have to do a good cleaning job though - or you risk hacking up large furballs ... which can be embarrasing in the inappropriate social situations.
