I don't think I've ever been involved in a discussion about that before...but, it seems simple...they MUST breathe.
Think about it, how else would they get all the zombie groans goin' on?

does any1 know how many years after day, land of the dead will take place? because blade (savinis character) must be pretty old by now being a zombie since the 70s

it'll be a fair bit ... the world is almost completely dead with a few pockets of survivors.

It must be set a while after the other films...I read that the zombies aren't really considered a "threat" anymore, a lot of them are in the process of starving and "dying"...I guess that might be where Romero's gonna be going with their "evolution" deal that's aparently gonna happen...
