No problem, judging from the other flick you're into you'll probably dig it a lot.

Great Expectations (1946)

I loved it. David Lean directs everything so brilliantly, the black and white is absolutely phenomenal and fits the tone of the film spot on. The set design in the cemetery and everything else is just fantastic.

District 9 (2009)

2.5/5

Admirable in its attempts to reinvigorate a genre in need of a boost but ultimately exhaustingly repetitive. Like 2007's 'Cloverfield', the film utilizes documentary style footage to inject realism into the story- and this actually works very well here. In fact, stylistically, this is an enormous success; the aliens are believable, the enormous hovering spacecraft is chilling, the slum scenes are almost always effective. Unfortunately, the narrative restrictively follows one man in his encounter with the alien people; his character unlikable and poorly-written, and I almost immediately grew weary of his selfishness and stupidity-especially come the last forty minutes of the film where it goes from intellectual hypotheticals to action movie eye-candy. There is a political message in all of this explosive CGI mumbo-jumbo, but we're beaten over the head with it so much that it becomes contrived. When the credits roll the films has over-stayed its welcome.

Scanners

Good film and a good concept. The chilling sound made whenever a scan was taking place added another dimension to it and the effects in the final fight whilst very fake were still quite gruesome and sick. It was less of a horror film and more of an action, which I wasn't expecting.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

There's little I can think of to say about this film except...LOVED IT!

Funny People (2009)

Decent flick. Nothing special in the way of it's comedy but the more dramatic elements set it aside from other films of it's kind.

Inglourious Basterds

Entertaining as hell. A great spy thriller with amazing characters, a fanstastic story, beautiful art direction and big brass fucking balls. Loved it.

Ponyo.

fun little movie the whole family enjoyed.

not as rich and textured as Spirited Away ... but still entertaining and completely unpredictable.

kind of like an 'anti-Finding Nemo' which is fine with me.

...So what was it, the condom thing?

I watched Crank: High Voltage today.
Apparently it's not coming out at the cinemas at all here which is a cunt...so yeah I downloaded a dvd rip of it, something I'd otherwise never do with a film I really wanted to see...but hey.
I liked it. Was pretty funny. Very weird.
Not quite the classic in my mind as the first one was and will be, but a nice follow up that had plenty of crazy.
I'll grab the dvd.
