This was a very suspenseful ghost story that I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It had some scary scenes, and it was really creepy and atmospheric. The kids put on unsettling performances while the governess also has an amazing performance. Would I buy this on DVD? Probably not, but it was an immensely unsettling gothic ghost story.

9/10

Told you that you'd like it. I'm curious though, if you liked it so much why wouldn't you buy it on DVD?

I dunno. I guess there's just some movies that I think are good that I don't really feel like watching again.

Hitchcock's Rebecca [1940]

Still a wonderfully atmospheric tale that take us away to a world where Cinderella really does marry the handsome prince and lives in the mysterious castle but things get spooky at night in swirling fog....

A 6 is a little low considering you seemed to like it.

One of my fave films. So many weird touches thrown in here and there...

The Man from Planet X

I enjoyed this movie but i feel like they could've done more with it. Due to the location it seemed really small and the original plot of the new planet coming closer to Earth didnt seem to matter anymore once the alien arrived. I get that it was just a precursor to the real plot and obviously thats what it's really about (It is called THE MAN from Planet X and not just Planet X) but it seemed like a big deal that should've been featured more. They also seemed to be confused on what they wanted to do with the alien as they seemed to shift his motives for being there and seemed like they just werent sure how to get there. The cast was good though and the alien was interesting looking (Sorta like a deformed Mr. Freeze.) Ultimately i enjoyed it but it wasn't one of my favorites from the decade.

Earth vs. The Flying Saucers

I liked this one too. This one had a larger feel to it, it made the alien invasion seem like a serious threat as opposed to the small isolated incident in Man from Planet X. However the aliens in this had the laziest design i've ever seen. The story was interesting though i found the movie entertaining.
