Love the background art...strange trippy kinda music, and random animations floating around...it's an "ok" film, I don't like it all that much, but it's ok background noise, and interesting to watch.
The animated chicks are some 'o the finest.

i've always had a soft spot for this movie .
i know it's not 'good' but it grabs me anyway..

its like the dark side of 'who framed roger rabbit'

i think that the low expectations probably helped you enjoy it as well.

who doesn't ? ;)

but come on, there was more to the movie than that ! i had no expectations at all though, i just liked the series, despite some weak episodes, and wanted to see the prequel.

i think i was just tired of the whole thing by that point ... i lost interest in the series 1/2 way through - and i couldnt help being dissapointed after seeing Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet - 2 of my favorite films..

i have the DVD so i'll no doubt see it again some day.

but maybe just for the t & a :p

Shit Labyrinth is a great movie.

I watched Dog Soldiers, at was good but I didn't watch it all at once but it was good. Hated The main badguy Captain. Ryan or somethin, I really hated that guy.

tarcher80 10-04-2006 02:22 PM

the ice storm: good flick, great characters and acting.
the illusionist: good cinematography, good soundtrack, good acting. solid movie, but the plot was a little predictable.

VampiricClown 10-04-2006 02:24 PM

High Tension.

I think that was the point. Why else would the have him kill a dog right at the first?

stygianwitch 10-04-2006 02:52 PM

Lake Placid.... love this one too, my daily dose of cheeze :D

Rabid Child 10-04-2006 04:00 PM

The last movie i saw was the 1988 Wes Craven film The Serpent and the Rainbow. I gave it a 75 out of 100. It was scary and it actually made me feel bad for Bill Pullman which is a hard thing to do. The main reason i felt bad for him will be revealed in an article that I did Not make its from one of my favorite sites. http://www.i-mockery.com/halloween/greatest/serpentrainbow.php

The Departed.

I liked it - a couple of weaknesses but I wont talk about it untill more people have seen it.

(scorcese film based on Infernal affairs)

The_Return 10-04-2006 08:13 PM

I watch two movies tonight...I'll start with the good one.

Freedomland

Superby acted, definatly a jewel in Julianne Moore's crown. I really liked it.

The other movie I watched...Im almost ashamed to even type the words...Ive been very much against this movie for a long time, but I knew that I'd have to watch it eventually...

The Pink Panther Remake

Fuck. Worse than I ever could have imagined. I'll leave it at that, as I really could go on all night about how brutally inept this movie is in every aspect of it's production. Grrrrraaaarrr, it pisses me off just thinking about how bad it was.

Goddamnit have I been looking forward to this. Can't wait to see it this weekend.

So now the big questions:

Better than Taxi Driver?

Better than Goodfellas?

So did I. My dad rented it, and said he wouldnt tell me what he got unless I promised to watch it with him. We both agreed that it was a huge fucking mistake.

The Digital Prophet

Very low budget Troma sci-fi flick about an internet stalker. The plot gets confusing towards the end when it's supposed to be clearing things up, the acting isn't very good and there was very little onscreen gore. It did however have Jeffrey Combs in it, so that was a plus. Overall, it pretty much sucked, but there was still a small amount of entertainment value here.

16 Blocks

I don't know if Mos Def could have possibly been any more annoying than he was in this movie. Aside from that major issue, I thought this was a pretty cool film. Kind of like Copland meets Die Hard with a Vengeance or soemthing along those lines. Bruce Willis is always good in the dark, gritty cop roles and this one fits him just fine. Overall, it was entertaining but not great and Mos Def was very irritating throughout the film.

THANK YOU! I've been saying that for at least a year and every time I bring it I have people jumping down my throat telling me how wrong I am and that Equillibrium doesn't jack from The Matrix at all. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person to notice the blatant similarities throughout the whole film. To me, the whole movie just seemed like a Matrix wannabe.

Departed looks awesome, but I think if you put it anywhere near the pedestal those two films are on, you will only be able to be disappointed in it. Go in expecting good, not great & you probably won't be let down. You might even find yourself pleasently surprised. Go in expecting great and if it's anything less than one of the best films you've ever seen, you'll leave feeling disappointed. I made this exact mistake with Land of the Dead and I'm trying very hard not to repeat it with Departed. (It looks fuckin' sweet though.)

Yeah, as soon as he told him to kill the dog I thought he was a jerkoff, Then he Killed the dog and I wanted to see him die. I could have seen the ending a mile away though. All in all I would give it 8/10

That whole movie is creepy. Probably one of my favorite Stephen King films along with Misery.

Good point, I, too, did that at Land of the Dead.

Let's just hope for a good Scorsese film.

Cronos - fell asleep halfway through it. Not because it was boring, mind you, I was really really tired.

hellfire1 10-05-2006 06:17 AM

X-men 3: the last stand.

just... lacking. don't know if it was the bad dialogue, or lack thereof, or the character underdevelopment, or how they tried to cram as much possible into the movie, but it just left me disappointed. good action though. good effects. nice to see some characters have a little more screen time, but it wasn't enough. ah well...
