The Warriors

Took my son to the New Beverly Cinema for the first time. Completely packed theater full of rabid fans (some dressed as Baseball Furies) with James Remar, Deborah Van Valkenberg & David Harris doing a Q&A and telling hilarious stories about Walter Hill and filming at night in late 70s NYC.

Fantstic night!

Its low budget but the actors give it there all. Very misleading title and cover art though.

"Screamers - the hunting" 6-7/10

Uninteresting story as well as characters/actors.

When there was action it was quite good tho. But as soon as the action stopped my attention immedeately left the screen.

A typical sequal, i guess.

Dolemite

Had some awful acting and some of the most poorly executed fight scenes I've ever seen.... had a blast with it!

 man I would've loved to have checked that out. James Remar is a great actor that never really got his due. I've got a copy of Quiet Cool to check out sometime this week.

Dragonwyck (1946)

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7110/dragonwyck1.jpg

"I believe in myself, and I am answerable to myself. I will not live according to printed mottos like the directions on a medicine bottle." ...Nicholas Van Ryn (Vincent Price)

A lushly Gothic melodrama abound with themes of social class where Price totally inhabits the persona of Nicholas Van Ryn, symbolizing his proud, valiant strength, and ultimately portraying his breakdown into weakness, drug addiction, and murder. Dragonwyck is definitely worth a look for fans of Vincent Price. It's like Price's somewhat of a warm-up performance for becoming the master of macabre in his later glorious career. Price made a beautiful classy movie-pair with Gene Tierney. Both are great with their roles, but it is Price who shines the most. This well-produced, pure Gothic atmospheric piece from Mankiewicz also features a strong supporting casts including Miranda's bible-thumping father played by Walter Huston, her mother (Anne Revere) and last but not the least Glenn Langan played the role of Dr. Jeff Turner.

Thanks a lot to the HDC's Vampenguin for the recommendation. :)

Glad you liked it Rosh! :)

Now if I can just convince the rest of the crew around here to check it out, we'll be all set, heh.
