lolz! Ditto, there should be a hell lot of other stuffs in that facility including at least Juggernaut as the front guard. ::big grin::

Still it's better than that Dark Phoenix travesty! A greater threat or a group of villain(s) could have save it at the end.

Oh, I'm not gonna touch that one.

The Dark and the Wicked 7/10

Despite DeadbeatAtDawn giving it a high rating this was actually quite good. ::wink::

Angra 11-09-2020 09:35 AM

By the way, I've noticed over the last few years that witches has become the new black in horror. Just sayin.

Triggered (2020)

https://i.postimg.cc/qRDJMJXr/Triggered.jpg

9 high school "friends" having a reunion camping in a forest. But their old science teacher gives them a surprise visit and straps a time-bomb to each of them. Killing another gives one their time. Last one lives.

A fast paced, stupid fun-slasher!

Though some may find the camera work and the dark 'night in the woods' settings little annoying at times but still they aren't much distracting. A fairly decent time-waster.

I wasn't expected much, but when I finally saw Dark Phoenix, I thought it was pretty entertaining. I probably liked it a hair better than Apocalypse, but those both were not nearly as good as Future Past.

So what'd ya think of it?

TaeKwonZombie 11-12-2020 07:58 PM

its a scary movie, it plays on realistic fears some people have, the knocking on the door, the mystery behind the killers, the way they look and act, the inspiration of the manson murders, it reminds me of 'when a stranger calls' in some ways, suspense plays on fear, i really liked it, cant believe it was made like 12 years ago...

also saw Dreamcatcher (2003), dont ya love the aliens...

...

It’s actually a remake of a French movie that’s inspired by real events, which isn’t Helter Skelter, if I remember correctly.

EVENT HORIZON (1997). I really wanted to like this more...really good Special effects and I like Sam Neill and Lawrence Fishburne (although He sure did sound a lot like SGT Appone from ALIENS "Listen Up People!"). I could see the ALIEN inspiration, than it goes into HELLRAISER territory-have read that there is also a SHINING aura around it, although I didn't notice that. By the end, EH has become so chaotic it's hard to feel satisfied.
Found out doing some research.that there was only a 10 week schedule and than Paramount removed almost 30 minutes from the film to appeal more to audiences and for no good reason as EV didn't do good Box office at all. Two big strikes against it and not even any material left over for a Director's Cut, which stinks as this really could have been a decent film. **

I really loved this movie.
Later I found out it was the inspiration for the Dead Space video games. I am really looking forward for the Amazon Series. Hope it's good.

well wiki says this "The screenplay was inspired by two real-life events: the Manson family Tate murders, a multiple homicide, as well as a series of break-ins that occurred in Bertino's neighborhood as a child.''

is the movie you're speaking of called Them?

The scenes with Sam Neill and Lawrence Fishburne are the best parts of the movie. I've watched the movie two or three times attempting to find a good movie worth owning. But I'm not there yet. I did read that they might have that director's cut after all coming out. So I'll give it a final chance then.

Not your typical Roland Emmerich kind of disaster flick, it focused mainly on escalation of chaotic orders, displaying best & worst of human nature when a comet named Clark about to hit the world hard.

Just seen this. FFS, when the big one hit the power went off in my building. Almost shit my pants.
But decent movie. Reminded me of Deep Impact.

Bachelor Party Massacre and Axe (aka The Choke) are both pretty run of the mill slashers.

The first one is kind of okay, even though the end scene is a bit predictable.

The second one got pretty dull in the middle with a - granted - unexpected twist at the end. Even though it made little to no sense.

SILENT HOUSE (2011). A Young girl goes to help Her father and Uncle repair a vacation home when the weird stuff begins happening. A little hard to follow, but stick with it. Not as good as it could have been (To Me anyway), but others may like it. Cannot quibble with Elizabeth Olsen's performance...her frightened reactions were pretty good and She is much more appealing than her more famous siblings (Mary-Kate and Ashley). **1/2

I remember getting into some posts here with someone because I thought this was more a horror movie for women. Basically an LMN movie. I think it was one of those movies sold as a one shot deal too.

Is this any different from the original La casa Muda?

Seems like they changed up a few story elements going by wiki. But I never saw the original or inspired movie and never will.

HEARTBREAKERS (2001). OK comedy about a Mother/Daughter Con act...The Mother marries a Guy and the Daughter helps to break things up and get a Big settlement. Not great, but certainly worth seeing. Sigourney Weaver is always good, Jennifer Love Hewitt appealing, Gene Hackman and Ray Liotta are both funny (although Gene's character is totally revolting) and a nifty cameo by Anne Bancroft. ***

Fatman 7/10

A story about an evil rich boy who hires a hitman to take down Santa, because why not.

I really liked the 3 main characters, the boy, the hitman and Santa, which might be the reason it took me so long to realize, wow, this build-up has lasted more than 3/4 of the movie which leaves for 15 minutes of action in the end. That sucks.

The long build-up would've been fine if the movie had been half an hour longer. Also I could have done without most of the scenes with mrs Santa (or who the hell she was). Those 15-20 minutes would have been better spend at the final showdown.

A thing I found both ridiculous and hilarious at the same time was the hitmans' reaction when he got the task. Santa Clause? I'm on it.

This might have been a good christmas flick if it actually took place around christmas, but oddly enough most of the movie takes place in january. Opportunity missed.

Tommy Jarvis 11-20-2020 01:02 PM

Finally got around to watching Cold Prey and it did not disappoint. A highly enjoyable slasher if I may say so.
