The Unborn (2009)

This movie could totally be made into a horror game with all the different fucked up shit you see throughout the movie.

As for the sequel....I don't know, gonna watch that next but I've heard bad things about it, either way when I watch a bad movie I get a good laugh.

The first two Last Summer movies are great to me. But avoid the third one at all costs. That one is crap.

AS ABOVE, SO BELOW (2014). A group of people (led by one annoyingly pushy girl) explore the catacombs of Paris for treasure both monetary and archeological. It's pretty ambiguous with references to Hell, Dante, Karma and even THE DESCENT thrown in. Some decent moments/scares, but filmed in the "Found Footage" style and becomes hard to follow and the constantly shaking camera becomes intrusive. *8`/2

His House 8/10

An african (kinda) horror movie about an african couple fleeing africa to settle down in an english town. But very early on you get the feeling something is completely off. Loved the artistic surreal and nightmarish visuals. Lots of scares. Some working better than others.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

TaeKwonZombie 11-02-2020 11:12 PM

i still know what you did last summer

so i was advised to avoid the third one like the plague haha

Hereditary (2018)
6/10

Creepy farcical story. The mechanics are done well: music, shot direction, cinematography, acting... but the story bounces around from a strong emotional family guilt subject, to different parapsychological subject matters, or bits of other horror films, that really don't have anything to do with the ending subject. It felt jumbled to me, more like a Gaillo film; if you like sense, I don't think this will satisfy.

The ending felt like something the writer had pulled outa his ass in the last minute. The rest is fantastic.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things 5/10

One of those what-the-hell-did-I-just-watch movies.

Odd, VERY slow paced, contains more dialogue than a 4 hour Tarantino movie and has a main character that’s totally cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Add to that some dancing and singing and... Folks, don’t put this on if you haven’t slept for 24 hours.

A definite 1 time watch.

The black mans misery.

Contains one nasty ass nail scene.

Come Play 5/10

Stupid story. Probably good and pretty scary if you watch it as a kid. I can’t do that.

The boy playing the main characters bully friend seemed like a very capable young actor. I expect to see a lot more of him in the future.

CREEM: AMERICA'S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL MAGAZINE (2019). Doc on the music magazine (1969-89) centered in Detroit MI (instead of NYC or LA) and was more meat and potatoes than the pompous Glad handing ROLLING STONE. At times informative, irreverent and infuriating, CREEM (along with CIRCUS) was one of my Go-To mags in the late 70's-Early 80's. They were certainly fans, but no qualms about busting balls with Rush, KISS and David Lee Roth in particular being skewered on a regular basis. I wish it had been a little longer, but lots of memories of a time when I would get my news the old fashioned way and when I felt the music truly mattered. Interviews with many of the staff (including the acerbic Dave Marsh/Lester Bangs) and Rockers who were covered (KISS, Alice Cooper, Joan Jett, etc) and future stars who read it (Michael Stipe, Chad Smith and Kirk Hammett). ****

Been keen to watch this one.

Holy fuck, what a movie. Obvious comparisons to his old man, but he's doing something different, for sure; a lot slower, content to watch people just move around among the horror. Recommended, for sure.

It was good. 7/10

If I didn't knew it already I woudn't have guessed it was made by a Cronenberg. Now that I know I did notice some Cronenberg trademarks, such as the gross graphic scenes and the overall weirdness of the story (not Naked Lunch/Videodrome weird tho). Mostly it reminded me of another movie, but the story never became as deep as that, which was good, because then it would've been kind of a rip off.

Angra 11-08-2020 11:13 AM

Toys of Terror 3-4/10

This MUST have been made for a young audience, right? It must have..

The positive: Camera work, music and settings.

The negative: The bad story, the bad CGI, the bad acting and the fact that there was no chemistry whatsoever between any of the characters.

I managed to fall asleep 4 times during this Nickelodeon horror movie. That's also a negative. FAIL!!!
