That's the one I wanted to get but after I started to realize that the UK version was the best I went ahead and got it but I still want that one too.

In the sales...

"Striking Distance"
"Suspect"

Elvis_Christ 07-09-2005 05:59 AM

I really liked Striking Distance when it came out. Especially for its use of the song Little Red Riding Hood by Sam The Sham.

Yeah, it's okay. Nothing stand-out but a solid, entertaining action thriller with a great support cast.

I've got walking with dinosaurs on vhs, these sorts of series keep me captivated for hours, they're probably the only programmes apart from a couple of comedy series on Tv, that I actually like watching.

we have the 'walking' on DVD ...

i know a lot of it is conjecture - edjucated guessing - but it's still amazingly well done and (due also largely to my son's interests) has gone a long wat to rejuvinating my fascination with dinosaurs ..

That's a badass set, what's on the bonus disc?

mitchdoran 07-14-2005 01:04 PM

Dawn of the Dead Ulimate Edition

it has the US theatrical, the extended, and the european versions.

and a bonus disc with two full length commentaries, on set home movies, and a monroeville mall tour!!! everything is mixed in 5.1 except for the extended version.

and if you've ever wondered how shitty the cameras on those sidekick phones are, well here you go:

You know, I held out the longest time over that "Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition Set," thinking, "Ahhhh, I spent too much on this movie already, this thing is evil, three different versions of the movie is too much," etc., but finally gave in and got it, and now I'm happy! It actually is very cool.

The only thing I find a little annoying about it is the way it folds out. You need a table if you want to open it up, because if you're holding it, it just flops open all over the place and the discs fall out.

I have it too, but I've only watched the theatrical release so far. It's a very overwhelming set...you need about 3 weeks of free time to really appreciate it ;)

they should make these 4, 5 plus disc digipaks like the R2 Alien Quadrilogy one... opens like a book, less fiddly.

mitchdoran 07-14-2005 02:25 PM

The worst was watching my friend literally tear up the packaging for my "Six Feet Under- Season 1" boxed set. The first season had this packaging where one side of the box doesn't open and the inside digipack pops out at you when you open from the end you are supposed to. He decided to take a knife to the closed end.

DOH!

The other two seasons that are out now have easier packaging.

Speaking of HBO series packaging, anybody have the 'curb your enthusiasm' dvds? They have this whole pop up book thing going on too.

The Ultimate Edition DOTD didnt bother me too much, but I kept folding it the wrong way at first... er..

ShankS 07-14-2005 02:36 PM

my Battle Royale boxset is a right tight bugger...the two cases are packed in the box so tight, I'm standing there shaking the thing jumping up and down like a nutter, trying to get them to slide out.

lol
