Session 9
The acting is solid (not amazing or anything), and it was nice to see two CSI-series actors in the same movie. The camera work was pretty inventive too; I expecially liked the handheld work they did during the tunnel scenes. Gave a realism to the scenes, and made them quite frightening. When the figure showed up in the first scene with Hank I nearly shit myself. The part that interested me the most was the session tapes, they were very well done and I'm interested in those types of things, so yeah. I expected something different from this. I didn't know it was pure Psychological horror, similiar to The Shining. I thought it was more... of a ghost story. I was expecting supernatural moments, or more haunting scenes. Didn't get those. The film moves really slowly, but that sets up the atmosphere - not my favourite type of atmosphere (that being the rainy, night time setting) but for what it was - it worked. The sets were amazing, and I heard it was filmed in an actual insitute - making it even more eerie, expecially those underground scenes. Brr. The ending was good, and everything made sense... but it lacked that "woah" factor that most twists are paired with. Different type of film, I guess. I liked it... not one of my favourites, but a good film nontheless. It's average for me.

Blade. Good movie, but I couldn't help but giggle at a few of the Wesley Snipe patented poses....anyway, I recently saw the Mad TV parody with Blade and Sling Blade together fighting vampires, and now that show pops into my head when I watch the movie.

"I bit me a vampire one time. Them fellers taste like corn."

the_real_linda 09-25-2006 01:21 AM

i got some old nightstalkers comics and blades okay but not as good as i think its made out to be....

The Ghosts of Edendale. I was a little disappointed with this one, particularly since I enjoyed The Last Broadcast quite a bit.

Severance---8.5/10

Its touted as "The Office meets Deliverance" and although there was humor in it, I thought it much more brutal than funny. Some good gore in this one.

I can't think about that movie without thinking about Fool jumping and clinging to a doorframe to avoid a pitbull and laughing my ass off.

All Souls Day

Atrocious.
not even Danny Trejo could save this one.

Phalanx 09-26-2006 08:28 PM

Where's the party yaar? (aka dude where's the party)
Interesting, funny, bounced back and forth from US style to
bollywood style, and did it quite well. I expected it would be
a little more over the top, but nope, pretty decent, entertaining
film.

Shadow Of the Vampire. Willem Dafoe is great. I really liked it. Very clever idea for a movie.
