Seven (1995)
Such a great film. Great performances all around, and executed very well. -9/10 |
Sleeping Dogs (1977)
Good show - Sam Neill stars as a wannabe recluse thrust unwillingly into the political upheaval of late 70's New Zealand. Bristling with tension, fast paced and well acted...definately glad I watched this one. |
Class of 1984 (1982)
I loved this film. It was one of the funnest films I've seen in a long while, and it's probably my favourite entry into the vigilante genre. -9/10 |
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
3.5 / 5 Raimi's return to the horror genre is lots of fun and packs a few good scares in, but it's also conventional and light, like a ride in Disney's Haunted Mansion. I had a good time watching the film but it never really took me out of my comfort zone or affected me deeper than on a surface level the way a good horror movie should. If there's one thing Raimi is particularly good at it's mixing shlock humor with the grotesque, and there are a number of wonderfully executed scenes here where insects are vomited, eyes are gouged and goats go wild. Also impressive is his handling of a new breed of effects; once a master of low-budget, homemade effects, Raimi effortlessly handles CGI, a difficult tool to use effectively, especially in horror. Lohman is cute, Long is right for the part, and the ending is brilliant. It's not a genre revelation but it is a thrilling movie. |
