Now I was reading into some other film versions of this...I guess Laurence Olivier produced a TV version of this in the 70's, and cast himself as Big Daddy. I'd be rather intrigued to see how that turned out...

The Cheerleader Massacre

Not to bad for a b grade modern slasher. The bridge scene is fucking hilarious. And what the hell was with the Slumber Party Massacre footage. I kept expecting it to break out into a full on hardcore porno at any minute though.

Nosferatu: Phantom der nacht (1979)

It had been a while since I'd seen this, but wow. Truly a masterpiece in its own right. It's more of a reworking of Stoker's novel paying homage to Murnau than an actual remake of Murnau's original film. Herzog takes liberties with the narrative, but stylistically it's as if Murnau had had 1979 filmmaking technology and equipment back in the early 1920s. The composition, lighting, and makeup all feel so classic. It's an incredible meeting of old school and modern renaissance filmmaking. An exemplary entry into the horror movie canon, and a wonderful work of art, period.

Monks- the Transatlantic Feedback (2006)

Talking about the Monks with Elvis in the current album thread made me want to watch this again. The Monks were one of the absolute most influential groups to come out of the 1960s...and no one's ever heard of them. This long overdue story of the band is not just about the history of the Monks, but a wonderful look into the spirit of the 1960s; the culture, the state of mind. Anyone who gives a crap about music at all owes it to themselves and to this groundbreaking, wildly and surreptitiously influential (and as much as I hate the cliche "ahead of their time", they truly were) group to give this one a watch.

Hercules and the Barbarians (1960)

Another Italian sword & sandal epic pitting Hercules against the Mongol hordes.

Yup, have to agree with mrbelle. Creepy looking youngsters.

One of the best horror movies i've seen in 2009.

The ending could have been a little longer tho, and the director should've spend more than the last minute of the movie explaining what was going on and why. Coz that was quite interesting.
