Here we go again- an absolute classic being shut out by a populace with an inadequate education in film history.
Melvyn Douglas, Raymond Massey, Charles Laughton and KARLOFF. Any ONE of then could outact any 30 of today's actors- and this film has ALL FOUR. No matter what the popular vote says, The Old Dark House is far and away the superior film. |

No, not the ONLY one...lol... perhaps I shouldn't have spoken so unequivocally, but I'll bet the majority voting in this thread have never seen The Old Dark House. I'll bet there are some who've never even heard of it!

old people rule cause they can tell us alot of shit about stuff we've never seen, like why some movie i havent seen roxxx. but if i come on and see a movie that I feel is overrated (cemetary man) vs one i laughed at (serial mom) and theres another movie in the running I havent seen, im prolly not going to just step back and not vote, as i don't think anyone else comports themselves in that manner.
although i did not vote in a recent bout due to the fact i couldnt make up my mind... (i think it was NOES vs hellraiser or something to that effect) so yeah, let the old man rattle off!! he's only got so much time left you know!! |
Yah, I couldn't vote for The Shining vs. something else (in the 80's horror tournement) cuz I thought both movies were great.
I liked Serial Mom (though I think it was oner of Waters' lesser films) - I was just frustrated cuz I knew The Old Dark House (look this film up and see what a work of art it is) was gonna get shut out. Many appy polly loggies everyone! |
