her character in juno - was to me - the most contrived hollywood hip bullshit character i've ever seen in a movie. not one word of her dialogue ran true.
if i had wo spend 2 minutes in a room with someone who talked like that (someone who bought into their own bullshit) i'd bash my head against a wall until my ears mercifly filled with blood.

i didnt think anyone else felt this way - i thought i was the only juno hater.

basically - i hate phony personalities - people who wear some hip persona like a jacket in a contrived attempt to appear interesting.

i'm not saying i'm right or wrong - or that i should care - .....thats just the way i feel and it has a big impact on my entire life.

over the weekend i saw :

- the bunker (reminded me of session 9)
- my neighbour totoro
- spirited away
- orange county
- Monsters VS Aliens. liked a lot of this film - but some of it bugged me when it got away from the monsters and was dealing with the humans (the fiance, the president, the members of the war room) where it seemed to be too slick, smug, and overconfident. Bob was the big favorite for everyone.

the animation was gorgeous.

Very nice choices. I love how Miyazaki's movies suit both a young and old audience. I can stick on one of his films while babysitting and the kids are quiet, mouths agape the entire time AND I'm not stuck watching Dora or Disney Princesses all night.

Just finished up watching Pi, and about to watch Haute Tension because I suggested them to my friend and he's watching them tonight. He loves to discuss them the next day. Good times.

Mortuary

Started off OK but quite quickly became a confusing nonsensical mess. Could've done with some decent FX, the cgi was exceptionally poor. Not Tobe Hooper's finest hour by a long shot.

"Tokyo Gore Police"

I'm not sure what kind of super powered crack these Japanese filmmakers where on, but it was some powerful shit, This was one of the weirdest, most over the top movies I've ever seen. Truly an interesting experience.
