How did you feel about Maria Bello playing Evie instead of Rachel Weisz?

The Great Yokai War (Miike)

fun goofy film... with some suprising western touches.

I found this film incredibly boring. I really wanted to like it.

Finally watched Sleepaway Camp. Pretty good, though having known about the ending kinda ruined it a bit I think.

i watched it with my kid. i went in thinking i wouldnt like it at all (i dont like asian kids films as a rule) but i ended up enjoying it mostly because of the different creatures (wondering how many were based on actual japanese folktales) and i thought the crazy old grandfather was kind of funny.

Rachel fitted in with the tone of the first two films.

This role needed a bit more of the womanish, motherly side of Evie and I thought Maria Bello did a good job with maintaining the balance of being a mother of a full grown Alex plus the wife of Rick. Don't think Rachel would have pulled this role off like the previous 2.

I really wish they stop with this one though. Seems like they are running out of ideas (well, this is a very campy franchise in the first place anyway), and its better to stop while being slightly ahead than going downhill to the point of absurdity.

Romeo + Juliet (1996)

This was a very interesting take on Shakespeare's play...some aspects worked, others did not. Once I got over the initial "what-the-fuck" of Luhrmann's updates, I quite enjoyed it.

In the past week.

The Watchmen - Thought it was amazing. That night went and read the graphic novel and they definitely kept it true unlike Wanted. Even if you're not a comic book fan, which I am certianly not, I'd recommend this.

Eastern Promises - Not as good as I expected but not bad by any means.

Harold And Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay - Meh. First one was alot funnier.

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas - Trippy shit. Depp delivered like he always does.

Mirrors - Shit. I wish Hollywood would stop with the awful Japenese horror remakes.

You thought the original was much better?

Personally i think Mirrors is one of very few decent asian remakes.
