some things work better on the big screen.

Must be a fear of yours or something.

See, I pictured it as different, like, for example, some guy is walking in a haunted house, and the camera goes from pointing horizontaql, to pointing vertical really fast, and a chandelier had fallen and when the camera hits it, its like, 4 feet above the camera falling fast. Not.... he's looking at it for ten minutes then it un dramatically falls.

Night train to terror
Strange movie, but I liked it anyway.

Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. It was really long. I kind of liked it though.

Yeti.13 08-31-2006 12:15 PM

Dead & Breakfast. Ok but not fantastic.

Spoorloos 08-31-2006 12:53 PM

The 25th hour

awesome movie, i'm a big fan of Ed Norton.

persuasian70 08-31-2006 03:10 PM

Masters of Horror: Homecoming 4/10 - The worst of the series so far. I'm not a big fan of the war or Bush , but this movie was neither subtle, scary or funny in its delivery of the meassage. The story was junk, and the last scene with the zombies marching with a flag, drum and flute was ridiculous.

That would be "Homecoming"...and I thought it was meant as a joke in the first place, so I didnt mind it. I'll agree that its the worst of the series, but I thought it was OK.

EDIT - Suuuure. Edit your post and make me look like an idiot why dontcha?:p

The_Return 08-31-2006 07:42 PM

Just watched the Dawn of the Dead remake again.

Very well done. Not as good as the original of course, but I have to admit that there are moments where it comes pretty close. Easily the best remake in years.

Meet the Feebles

Muppet style puppets + drugs + sex + murderous hippos = Peter Jackson's most twisted film to date. This was like a combination of Fraggle Rock on acid and the Muppets doing softcore porn. It's low brow funny & crude but entertaining nonetheless.

2 Short Films from R. Decaro

I love to see what other people out there making movies for no budget are doing so when this guy offered to mail me a DVD of his two shorts, I eagerly accepted. About a month later, my DVD showed up (Very cool of him to just send me a free copy!)... Please recognize that I'm not holding 2 no budget short films to the same standards I would for any studio released feature...

The White Lie

A fucked up little tale about a junkie that owes money to the wrong guy and the time has come to pay up. Initially, I thought it was just a violent little short intending to be as brutal as possible, but after watching it with commentary I learned the short was supposed to be about addiction. Either way, it's pretty cool and these guys do a good job considering the lack of budget. The female actress actually seems like she could be on the silver screen someday as she did a really good job with the screaming.

B+

Eating Razors

Okay, wow. This one was just frickin' nuts... I'm not sure if I even understand what happened in it or not, or if I'm even supposed to understand... Anyways, here's the gist...

A guy loses his job, then his girl because he drinks too much. Of course, losing those two things only spirals him into more intoxication until he becomes so depressed that he decides to kill himself by eating razorblades... Or does he? Yes, he does. Wait, maybe not... I was a bit confused by the end of this but it was still a cool little film. I wish I had gotten commentary with this one too because I'm sure I'm missing the point here too.

It was alright, and it was cool how everything in the ship was upside down, but thats about it

Spukky 09-01-2006 03:50 AM

Wolf Creek
It was alright, but it had to much 'what are they doing, are you stupid?' moments.

Wouldnt be too hard to explain that the antidote isnt perfect...Beast was partially "cured", but soon reverted to his normal state after leaving the kid's presence. Perhaps the antidote is only temporary as well.

crabapple 09-01-2006 09:31 AM

Phantasm III - this is now an old favorite bit of fun. There's a few things in it that I don't think belong. (Seems kinda slapped together in a hurry, in some ways.) But the stuff that's right about it (all the weird and quirky moments, and the fact that the original principal cast is all back again) makes it watchable.

Phalanx 09-01-2006 09:49 AM

Vaguely watched silent hill, and the cave.
Didn't really get into either.

Spoorloos 09-01-2006 09:57 AM

Near Dark

after staring the Lance Henricksen thread and seeing everyone post this movie i couldn't believe i never saw it, so i watched it last night. it was very cool, not too scary but good story, and interesting way to change vampires back into normal people, that was very original.

Miss Olivia 09-01-2006 11:36 AM

Just watched Flowers in the Attic.
Holy shit, it sucked. Complete waste of money.

Despare 09-01-2006 12:06 PM

May and Eraserhead, thought I'd enjoy Eraserhead more but I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, Eraserhead was a fine experience and a surreal piece but it wasn't for me. There was nothing there, just pictures that happened to be moving... but they were good pictures.

Sounds like someone went to the drive-in. (At least those are the two films showing at the drive-in near me. God bless drive-ins. Anywhere I can go get two, sometimes three movies, for under $10 bucks, plus be allowed to smoke whatever & drink during them... Man, that's awesome. I try to go a couple times a summer...)

nah uh here they don't have them.. at least i don't think so.

no, here in paris, and other parts of europe, we have what we call a UGC card. it's a card that you pay 18 euros (about 22, 23 bucks) a month, and you can go to the movies as much as you want and can stand. (but only for the UGC chain).

that sweet deal got me to see motherfuckin snakes on a motherfuckin' plane and octopuss pirates back to back. ;)

but we don't get to smoke weed. :(

If they had that here I'd take a pillow and blanket to the theatre Friday night and stay 'til Monday.

American History X. Difficult movie to watch, but it was really good. I usually hate Edward Furlong as an actor, but I didn't mind him in this movie. Edward Norton was brilliant. Good flick.
