SESSION 9 (2001). Really good atmosphere, but characterization isn't really defined and You don't care about these guys or what happens to them. Found an almost CABINET OF DR CALIGARI air throughout. *1/2

I hope this doesn't get me in trouble. I haven't seen the movie yet but finally got around to watching this Carpenter Brut video. It's wild.

Slight Horror VIOLENCE & NUDITY Warning.

There's a clip of Jon Mikl Thor in this from Rock'n Roll Nightmare. Is this a movie?

jaceklewy 03-10-2020 06:26 AM

The first Polish horror I am very curious how it will appear at the premiere in March.

This is from the Carpenter Brut album. He makes these videos with clips from horror movies and probably other shows that I'm not aware of. Here:

A few were edited for youtube. He had the unedited versions up originally. You can probably still find them on his site too.

ZIPPERFACE 1992

Hookers are being sliced and diced by a leather clad killer. Bit sleazy but i liked it.

.REC (2007). Liked the story very much and some good scares, but absolutely hate the "Found Footage" style that just gives Me headaches. Would have liked it more had it been filmed in a standard version. **1/2

I think that REC series might be one of the better found footage type movies. I know I've seen both American versions. Which were ok I guess. But the original version is what I want to finish. I believe I've seen two of those but I want to watch the complete series during the Halloween month.

The Dark Knight Rises - The whole trilogy is head and shoulders above the rest in the genre. Every scene that Bale and Caine share here is goosebumps intense.

SHOCK 'EM DEAD 1991

A teenager gets his wish to become the worlds greatest rock star granted by a voodoo woman. Sleazy but i liked it.

classic_horror_fan 03-15-2020 09:52 AM

After seeing the trailer for the Candyman remake, I ended up looking back at the original Candyman, and it is even more amazing than I remembered, which says a lot! This is definitely a great timeless classic, and Tony Todd really knew how to nail this role! It is also one of the best of the Clive Barker movies! I might still give the remake a chance, but I seriously doubt it will touch the original classic! ::devil::

classic_horror_fan 03-15-2020 09:57 AM

I also just saw an independent horror film called "Polaroid," about a cursed vintage Polaroid camera from the 1970s that has anybody who has their picture taken from it die! It actually turned out to be another one of the better independent horror films I have seen recently! There is not only good drama, dialogue, and suspense, but also some good shocking twists and turns when unraveling the backstory on that camera's curse and its dead owner! It also has good picture quality and cool looking death scenes! ::devil::

I saw this back when, mainly for Traci Lords who isn't bad in it.

KILL LIST (2011)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

3/4 of this film about a contract killer is REALLY good...the story was interesting, albeit a little off the wall (eg the couple ferociously arguing in one scene and lovey dovey the next), the violence is pretty jarring and interesting ambiguities arise (the victims saying "Thank You"::confused::). But a ridiculous ending when the film decides to go WICKER MAN and just doesn't make any sense in doing so. A lot of reviews on IMDB felt the same. **1/2

MACHETE (2010). Grade A exploitation flick that is SO over the top! Great cast and reminds Me a lot of COMMANDO (1985) as it never lets up and there's a sense of humor bubbling under all the mayhem. ****

Central Park - Well written, characters were okay, plot,... But now... Maybe seeing it in a theater would make it different, but now it missed something to really wow me.

Ahh, this wasn't too bad. Alittle bit too CGIish for me. And it had some humor throughout. The ending fight scene was decent.

"Us".
Competent horror/comedy.
Interesting idea, if not a little overly simplistic in its explanation,
and to be honest the surprise element towards the end was something I'd guessed towards the beginning.
It was ok.
Didn't think it was quite as well done or inventive as I found "Get Out" to be.

I find both movies to be over hyped. Seems like I only posted my US review on HorrorDVDs.

All Hallow's Eve (2013)
All Hallow's Eve 2 (2015)
Terrifier (2017)

Everything that could possibly be put in those movies is already in them. I wonder if there is a single thing, that didn't find its place there. I wasn't expecting more than shoddy plot and bad acting but overall I was mildly surprised.

classic_horror_fan 03-22-2020 09:19 AM

The Basement

This is a psychological thriller about a musician getting more Champagne at the store for his wife, only to be abducted by Bayley the Clown, then tied up in a dark basement. Bayley the Clown calls the guy Billy, a different name from his own, accusing him of murders he didn't commit, saying he is being arrested for it. After Bayley leaves, the captive musician then gets visits from a police man, a district attorney, his mom, his dad, the officer in charge of his execution, and the like, all played by the same actor. It is a weird one, but everything does fall into place at the end, and it does have a bit of a surprise ending that I will not get into detail with to avoid any spoilers. I recommend that one for the darker psychological thrillers! ::danger::

EDEN LAKE (2008). Pretty decent film of a vacationing couple terrorized by a psychotic pre-teen (Rotten little bastard He is too::mad::) and his friends. Quite nasty in places with elements reminding Me of STRAW DOGS and LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT. Compelling viewing although the couple must have a Death wish, especially the Guy, doing such STUPID things. ***

Also, do you ever get the feeling they are actually in a museum? Except for the doll, what the hell do they have on display? How can that place stay in business???

THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE (2016). Although some cliched moments towards the end dilute some of the impact, this was a pretty good little effort with a slow buildup full of dread. Worth checking out. ***
