Maniac Cop

It was so long since i've seen this, awesome movies, bruce campbell is awesome as always.

has anyone ever seen a movie with bruce where he and his wife are bank robbers? and the cops catch him getting into a stolen car. it could have been a lifetime movie, but it wasn't bad.

Belly of the Beast

finally - the last piece of shit Stephen Segal film i had that i havent watched till now.

another terrible film where he is upstaged by almost all of the secondary actors.

the 'filmaker' - as in the last few of these things i've seen - tries to shoot for the stars .. all of these little aesthetic touches designed to add depth to the film ..

they all backfire in a segall movie....
its a dumb action film .. not some rich film about eastern mysticism .. i mean look at the guy :

big mushy headed doughy bastard.
cant act - uses a stand in for his kick scenes ... has the ugliest hair ever seen on film ... you cannot sell this guy as a spiritual warrior ..

I remember walking out of "fire down below"...even after being slightly embarrassed at having to ask for a ticket out loud for something that sounds like a VD...

Just watched RoboCop again

must stop quoting RoboCop

"I LIKE it!"

persuasian70 08-25-2006 02:50 PM

I love Robocop, great movie for it's time. The scene where the guy runs his truck into the vat of toxic liquid and starts melting, and gets liquidified by the car is so cool.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengence 8/10 - I liked this movie , but not as much as liked Oldboy. This movie was so sad on so many levels. A lot of innocent people died, and for no good reason. I'm just glad the one's who really deserved it got what they deserved.

Silent Hill. It's one of the better game adaptions out there.

Resident Evil came in a two-pack with it, and I really like this one too.

Despare 08-25-2006 08:17 PM

The Ghost Galleon and Night of the Seagulls
Galleon was a bit underwhelming but the Blind Dead series as a whole is pretty entertaining.

Roderick Usher 08-25-2006 09:17 PM

Just watched THE DARK CRYSTAL with the kids. In the dark, sound cranked.

Brilliant! So much darker and cooler than anything recently made for kids. The production design is astonishingly beautiful and the story still holds me.

persuasian70 08-25-2006 09:22 PM

Silent Hill 7/10 - Not as bad as some people have stated. I thought the actors did a good job with the roles. They did a good job with set design and creature effects. I would've liked a better ending.

Miss Olivia 08-25-2006 11:23 PM

The Devil's Rejects. I liked HOATC a lot, but DR is a way better movie in my opinion. The story is great, and you actually get to feeling sympathy for the killers by the end. The ending is great too.

Nice to see that I wasnt alone in watching Silent Hill last night.

Was really impressed. Very surreal, especially near the end. Loved the whole atmosphere. The plot started out really generic, but evolved into something great. Highly enjoyed it.

Evil Dead 8.5/10 - Can you believe I just saw this for the first time today. I saw Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness a long time ago, but never got around to renting this. I was fairly impressed with how great the movie turned out considering the budget. The script is not the greatest. You have the whole lets wonder outside by myself in the middle of the night to investigate the strange scary noises thing, and the whole you think it's dead, but you know it's not. I can't believe he went from this little gem to directing the Spder-man movies, whice I love. I'm glad I saw this finally.

I'm going to see Creep next.

circusfreak 08-26-2006 09:35 AM

Satan's Playground. It was unexpectedly brilliant in many ways. Being ancient enough to be quite young when VCRs first came out, and having a horror film addicted dad, it reminded me so much of the way films were made back then. It appeared to have no budget, rubbish actors and a daft story, but it all worked wonderfully well and I really enjoyed it.
Next up -Hostel. At last!

Eatching Silent Hill with my GF tonight.

I need to know. Is it fast paced, are there lots of jump outs, is it suspenseful, and most important, is it any good?

Fairly fast paced...starts out slow, but it picks up. There isnt alot of jump-outs, but a couple that you might like. Kinda suspenseful in places. Overall, it's very good. I think you'll enjoy it, I really did.

Now, is the gore/ violence the intense, uncomfortable kind, such as in the hills have eyes in the trailer or saw, or is it more mindlessly gory and violent like in kill bill or friday films.

Neither, middle-ground I guess.

It's not overly violent really. Some of the gore is pretty heavy on the CGI, but other parts look fantastic. It relies more on atmosphere than gore/violence though, so dont expect a whole lot from that section.

What gore there is is pretty over the top though, I guess (Pyramid-Head's kills look OK, but are beyond cheesy).
