...been thrashing this 7" and their demo a heap this week. Burning Love are becoming one of my favorite bands.

^Hey I'd never heard these guys before, but it sounds pretty awesome.

Also another classic I've brought out recently:

Incredible re-issue of the incredible Indonesian garage rock girl group! The copies I had of their stuff were pretty lo-quality, so it's great to have this out.

Elvis, I feel like I'm always saying this, but check this out if you haven't already!

Here's a song:

Oh, and I've been listening to this one as well, loudly:

People still listen to albums?

IPODS, IPODS, IPODS!

Elvis_Christ 09-01-2010 08:48 PM

Nah I'd rather throw on a CD or Record.

I do listen/download a bunch MP3s (especially since a lot of the stuff I like is out of print or hard to come by over here) but nothing beats the real thing.

Too much maintenance. Pulling cd after cd out. I despise CDs. They ALWAYS scratch! And if theres one thing I hate in this world most of all, its getting to your favorite part in a song and "skip skip skip skip skip" the cd starts to scratch.

Elvis_Christ 09-01-2010 09:51 PM

Fair enough. I usually take good care of my "real" CDs and don't have any problems. The burnt shit I've got takes a bit of a hammering and some of the older ones are getting a bit fucked.

ProfondoXxRosso 09-01-2010 09:54 PM

Though, anything by Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler I will listen to and love I just love all of his music hes wonderful so if I had to say an album I would say this for sure.

Elvis_Christ 09-01-2010 10:07 PM

But yeh this threads about what album you're listening to a lot lately. It doesn't matter if its MP3s, Vinyl, CD or Tape...

Some of Dire Straits shit is cool like the first album but I don't really dig much of it.

This song kills:

Six Blade Knifes a very old one
they broke up in 96 and now knopfler is on his own and more country now then rock/jazz/blues. he is an amazing guitarist his music is really best to listen to live. saw him in syracuse last year it was teh best concert ive ever been too

this is my favorite: telegraph road this is just a live solo he did at the end of it for a concert in nimes in 92'

and of course sultans of swing:

he does amazing guitar sets for every song of his

Iron Maiden "The final frontier"

Best Iron Maiden album in 18 years.

Hell yes. When I listen for the first time to "El dorado" I thought that it sounds like an outake from No prayer for the daing but man....the album sounds great. The tandem between Smith-Dickinson works great together. The only thing that works wrong for me was Satellite 15th.... 4 minutes of boring noises that almost ruins The final frontier (the song not the album). I'm not the biggest fan of progressive side of Maiden but the album kickass

Best tracks:
-Coming home
-The final frontier (forget about the intro)
-Isle of Avalon
-The talisman
[/LIST]

Thought both the intro and the first song was by far the weaksest part on the album, and I was certain this would be yet another Maiden disappointment since the return of The Dickinson. A very weird song that should've ended the album instead of starting it, imho.

But after that the album just got better and better. And the 3 guitarists has never sounded better and more creative. FINALLY you could actually hear 3 guitars playing at the same time. Also alot of the music brought back memories of the Maiden 80s, which almost brought sweet tears of joy to my eyes. :)

Danzig: Red deth sabbaoth......after all this time I can enjoy a new Danzig's album, maybe this could be Danzig V-

That's a really good album.

I've been listening to...

Bad Religion - The Dissent of Man (Thumbs up! They seem to be mellowing a bit, but 15 albums in and these guys still rock.)

Weezer-Hurley (Sucks! Worst Weezer album ever by a landslide. 3 listens and still not even a single song that I enjoy.)

Toadies-Feeler (Really good, but quite old. This was supposed to be their follow up to Rubberneck, but Interscope shelved it for a long time and they just finally got the rights back and got it released. Bootleg versions have been floating around the internet for a decade though so the songs on this aren't new to me even though the album is.)
