Exceedingly well done, _V_!
I caught half of it when I was online earlier. Very efficient indeed.
And hearty congratulations to all winners. All of you deserved your wins!

Tap... Tap... hello ? Is this thing on ?

I'd like to thant the members of the academy for this award - but i regret that i am unable to accept it and instead would like to draw your attention to the plight of the native american indians..

actually - no ...

i will say thanks ... but i think we all know that if anyone other than V was running this thing - V would have gotten this award.

the guy who has more love directed energy than anyone else for HDC (on a sometimes frightening intensity!)... is a real hall of famer from where i stand.

as for me - i often have a lot of time on my hands at work (or when my kid has video game time on the weekends) and just post for the fun of it. I like talking about the genre, i like shooting the shit with friends here, and i like making an ass out of myself with the uncontrollable telling of jokes funny to only an old senile bastard like myself !

hardly the stuff worthy of the 'hall of fame'

hall of shame - definately.

so anyway - thanks for what i feel to be a misguided recognition ... V should be getting this ...not me ... but thanks anyway.
And thanks to Newb for the kind words (except the 'gibberish' remark - nothing but gold flows from my keyboard baby !!)

however - if this honour does carry any weight at all with it - i'd like to move that we proceed with the 'Girls of HDC calendar' idea i've been trying to promote for years.

i will personally travel to the neccessary locations for the photo shoots if need be. :D

And thank you, Flayed, for presenting that momentous and highly respected Award. :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, our other Honorary HDC Jury Award winner needs no introduction. From defending the literary persona who have evolved and molded Horror into what it is today, to bashing the modern-day masterpieces and leaving many a critic stunned and speechless with his unabashed and stinging criticism, he is surely a master of the genre in HDC.

Whether it be literary criticisms, or works of art, novels or comic-books, classic movies or modern, this member's wide and varied knowledge in each sector of horror is both incomparable and very highly respected by all HDC members and the world outside.

Recently, he has branched out one of his many talents in the form of a literary book which is destined to become a bestseller once people start taking notice of what a masterpiece it truly is. Right now, it boasts plenty of sales among us and also among fans of the genre, who love to read a fresh take on the already-overdone bizarro horror sub-genre.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would request all of you to please stand up and put your hands together...

For the wonderful author of Murderland - Part I - H8...

**rising up, and applauding**

Just got on this morning, and I have to say that I'm surprised and grateful. Thanks for appreciating me guys, I appreciate all of you and over time have been moved toward better, stranger, scarier work by being a horror fan and being around fans that the genre as it is today doesn't always deserve. Thanks especially to V, Neverending and Chrono for the kind words effort and support, and everybody else too, for creating a place that I wish every hack with a sexy cookiecutter vampire novel could stop check out for just a couple hours to see how discriminating smart and cool hardcore horror fans are and how little they deserve derivative crap. I love this community and I hope my little contributions show it and help you guys have a better experience of it.

Worst review I've gotten is 3 stars on Goodreads from a 17 year old girl in Iran. But two other Iranians gave it 5 stars, so I can't say that Iran is altogether not fond of my work.

What a great awards show! I'm sorry I missed it (bedtime comes early these days) and congrats to all the winners! :)

The_Return 09-29-2008 06:37 AM

Yay!! Congrats to everyone, especially _V_ - who not only pulled this together exceedingly well, but ALSO (deservedly) cleaned up on the awards :D

Sorry I couldn't be here in person - heavy wind + rain kept me away from home longer than I had hoped, but at least I was here "Live by Satellite" :p

Oh, and a sincere thanks to whoever it was that threw me a vote in the best Av category...it appears that my crown there is long gone, but I'm still grateful that I got a vote
