Twisted Sisters....NO...not the Dee Snider story.

Not bad for a DTV movie.Nothing too original but the acting was ok and the gore wasn't horrible.

All The President's Men (1976)

Excellent movie, of course. A great example of a perfect cast. Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford were a superb team.

The first "transporter" film.
This is one of the rare occasions I've seen the second one before the first...I liked the second one, but though this one was better. The stunt coreography was just as good (believable or not), stratham is stratham, and the musical score/soundtrack seemed a lot better on this one, and personally I preferred the storyline of this one a little better...Got it cheap too, nice score.

It's Statham. Jason Statham. :)
He's pretty much my favourite action star.

Phalanx 08-15-2006 12:35 PM

Ah, an R too many...Statham...weird.
Yeah, he works the action roles pretty well, eh?
REALLY hanging out for http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/crank/

I just saw a film from the same director "Wasabi"...it was ok, nothing great. Loved the golfing.

i thought Wasabi was pretty good ..

dont like the transporter films though ..
the action was too stylish - heavily edited .. i never once felt like he was actually fighting ..

compare it to Danny the Dog (both produced by Besson i believe) and you'll see the difference i appreciate ...

The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy. One of the better "fart joke" movies.

Ah! I'm really awaiting Crank. :)
The trailer looks pretty cool.

Man-Thing

I was a bit worried after hearing alot of bad things about it, but I ended up really enjoying it. The actors are surprisingly good for this kind of movie, and the same can be said for the effects. The "Man-Thing" itself looked phenominal.

I actually liked this alot more than the first Swamp Thing. It's just about on par with the second though, IMO.

PS- The one major thing wrong with it was the plot, which made no sence at all in places. Just thought I should add that.

Miss Olivia 08-15-2006 07:43 PM

Total Recall. Good Paul Veerhoven fun. The screenplay is goofy as hell, but I love it anyway. It still hurts to think Schwarzie is our governor, though. I guess it could have been worse....Gary Coleman ran for the office too.

Phalanx 08-15-2006 10:00 PM

I love total recall...one of his most enjoyable films IMO...I agree...the plot was pretty ridiculous, but...it was sci-fi and all.
I imitate (that arnie thing that pretty much all guys do) from this film most of all.

Just saw an Australian made Korean short film called "Birthday Boy", very short, and ultimately kinda sad...but very nice to look at.

"Pulse"

Not a bad movie, but not great either. kind of a modern "B" movie. I've never seen the original Japenese film so I don't know if it's better or worse, but it was a decent film.

Aeon Flux

....

Relatively true to the series. I am a big fan of Charlize Theron. She is one o fthose rare cases where she is not only a knockout, she has some serious acting ability too. But not even she could save it. It was confusing, meandering, way too in love with itself. The action was amazingly bland. WAY too much style over substance, but it tried really hard to have substance, and the end was just retarded.

to quote my wife: "I could have taken a vicoden and gone sleep when you got home, instead i stayed up and watched THIS.

Phalanx 08-16-2006 09:04 AM

I couldn't agree with her more, vod.
I'd heard SO many bad things about AF, but thought it may have just been the result of people who'd enjoyed the original series hating on any attempt to expand...so I hired it anyway.
Visually quite stunning agreed, but lacking in pretty much every other department. I was bored as all hell, and this is one of the few films I've actually turned off, never intending to finish.
The anti-hype is real on this one I'm afraid.
Although I'm not going to let this stop me from seeing the series, apparently it's great, and it looks awesome to me. Considering you can now buy the whole series for about the price of a movie now, I'm good with that.

Other than that, I think I'll wait for renaissance and children of man to see my next glimpse of the "bleak future"...

Miss Olivia 08-16-2006 09:17 AM

Twister. I really liked this movie. It's kind of improbable, yes, but it was fun to watch, and I love Bill Paxton.

Well, he would have time to check in on the real world, but the Gerries are knocking on Poland's back door.

On Aeon Flux... The main male character was bugging me for 60% of the movie because I knew i knew him from somewhere but couldnt put my finger on it. Then i realised he was the irritating male elf that was hanging out with Galadriel in th efellowship of the ring....

"Where is GandAALF? I woudl very much liek to speak to him..."

I so wanted to punch him....

We have a bunch of the small soldiers toys .. quite a few were made despite how relatively unknown the movie is ..

Thats class! I really enjoyed it - alot more than I thought I ever would(which is why it took me so long to get around to watchin it!). Never knew there were figures though!!
