what's not to love, though it's strange to see the big yin as a zombie

The Phantom of Liberty (1974)

Another bizarre but delightful entry in Bunuel's masterful career. I'm finding that I really dig the work he did in the '70s.

Can you believe that I just saw Battle Royale this week, for the very first time? ...I LOVED it...We'll be watching Battle Royale 2 sometime in the next few days (when the baby is asleep so we can read the subtitles...)
Yup, BR was the shit. Br2 on the other hand, just shit.
Really too bad considering just how long I waited for the second one...

Creep - This was one of the better horror flicks I've seen in recent memory. The atmosphere and suspense are top-notch. The villains one scary dude too. This one I would definitely recommend to all. 7.5/10
Agreed - it's all good there.

Shoot em Up. Holy God, why didn't I see that a lot earlier?
I really enjoyed it first time 'round...but in all honesty it wore a bit thin on the second viewing - probably because most of the scenes are so deliberately obvious, you remember way too much. It hasn't turned to shit, but I can see waiting a few years before attempting it again.

Saw 5 (2008)
I thought the basic storyline and crime/thriller feel was good, and a posetive step away from the series...and again they threw in (like 4) a very good jigsaw back-story...but, I found the traps lacking intricacy, and also...suspense...none of those scenes really irked me out, yknow? The "surprise" at the end wasn't one at all, if you'd paid any attention whatsoever to the words of jigsaw throughout...it was interesting to see another angle on the saw franchise, but something made this one not quite work. Still not as bad as (IMO) #3, my scale is currently
1, 4, 2, 5, 3.

On Thursday, I got to see The Thing (1982) in theaters.
How I would love that...
Theatres seldom even do that here - maybe the really small "few and far between" moviehouses might...but they're usually showing boring arty shit.
The only way I could get this to happen is actually hire a cinema for an event, I assume it'd be a tad expensive.

TMNT 3
Yeah...loved the first one, enjoyed the second despite a few silly elements, the third, I just thought that was repulsive...and the suits...what the fuck happened there. I remember there was also a really garbagey series based on the events after this movie too. YECK!
Go 1, 2, then TMNT.

Friday night I was able to catch a production of Evil Dead: The Musical.
They'll probably never bring it here...but I will await the dvd...one day.

I saw "hot rod" the other day.
I felt it very much wanted to be an early adam sandler type film.
Wasn't bad though, had a few good laughs and some...weird...random moments (cool beans...) overall, for what it was, I'd go 6.73/10

The Reaping.

I expected less, and was pleasantly surprised. I liked it.

But then again, I have never not liked anything with Hillary swank.

Batman and Robin

Yep...its still a horrible movie. Great fun to laugh at though.

Watched part of Schumacher's commentary, too - just to see if he could defend himself somehow. I quit once he started talking about how important it is for a movie to be "toy-able". Jesus H. Christ...
