Okay, I have a couple issues with this movie... 1, if you are gonna title a movie Book of Shadows, doesn't it stand to reason that a book would play prominently into the film? It doesn't. 2, the plot is ridiculous.

I enjoyed the start & end of this movie but there are just way too many plot holes to make this film good. At one point during one of the films most outlandish plotpoints, a character says "This doesn't make any sense." Boy, did he hit the nail on the head.

I don't know... It had potential, but it wasn't exectued properly or even anywhere close to properly.

C-

i'm one of the few people that actually liked this film ..

i didnt make any comparrisons to the 1st - i just let it happen.

thought there were some effective sequences - the confusion over what was real and what wasnt - etc ..

passibly acted ... no signs of budget problems....good soundtrack ..

Vodstok 08-09-2006 06:50 AM

BW 2 was one of those movies where i got to the end and went "Oh PLease...." But was surprised that it wasnt nearly as bad as i thought it would be. Definately something i would watch if the wife and i were hanging out, getting blitzed and eating junk food.

vod - given your 'particular tastes' i suggest you check out 'Bare Wench'

Vodstok 08-09-2006 07:14 AM

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Really, not a clue.

Is that a good horror movie?

ahhhh no.

its a spoof featuring a bunch of no talent big titted models.

i bought it in a bargain bin thinking it was going to be a comedy - it was really a big tit nudie flick.

Mountain Top Motel Massacre

I was in the mood for an old skool 80's slasher and picked up the first I could find in my crate of new movies. MTMM lol well, it does exactly what it says on the tin. It's your typical drive in slasher movie - nothing new...some decent gore...but nothing new.

Fun...6/10

Dead Calm

What more can I say about this classic thriller that hasn't already been said? Good Suspense, excellent acting performances and your classic thrilling 'he's not dead yet' endings!!! class

8/10

Exquisite Tenderness

Like so many overly done horror movies set in a psycho hospital I tentatively placed this into my DVD player. The film stars Malcom (clockwork Orange) McDowell which is what grabbed my immidiate attention...ok so, the movie is successfully creepy, it has some fantastic kills....
SPOILER (check out the syringe in the eye - woohoo)
But - it does have major lulls in the film where nothing much happens but that aside I found it an entertaining ride and being a sucker for 'good deaths' I gotta give this

7/10

Suspicious River

Another from the bottom of my 'new movies to watch' crate - this was originally purchased for £2 from a Music Zone 'bargain bucket'. To be honest I could have left it there as I wouldnt have missed too much. The story has been done to death (bored housewife seeks extra marital attention, goes working in a motel doubling up as a lady of the night for certain customers) Obviously she comes unstuck (excuse the potential pun) when she is brutally attacked and raped by one of the motel guests. Here is where I expected the deranged woman hellbent on revenge - alas no (there are no I spit on Your grave revenge killings) it just meanders on into her dull everyday existence - making what was a very slow paced drama...into a longer slower paced drama.

Suspicious River, nothing new, great or even exciting - just a dull drama with a bit of sex.

5/10

Don't go Into the Attic (Devils Harvest)

This low budget ghost/satanic flick although slow in parts was not too bad at all. Creepy in parts this is by no way a scary film more of a slow Sunday afternoon creep flick lol.

Not great but not terrible either

6/10

oh, its definately worth a watch vod (i caught it late night on hbo when i was in college). basically a soft-core porn w/ the girls showing their big fake tits at every chance. the writers (if there were any) probably cranked out this gem in an hour. the dialogue goes something like, "boy its hot out here, i better take all my clothes off" and "boy its scary out here, i better take all my clothes off and investigate" and "your my best friend so we better take all our clothes off and have hot lesbian sex." its pretty f-ing hilarious and in the end you'll just want to watch a real porn film.

Continuing on my Anime kick, I've started watching Wolfs Rain. Really, good. At lot more serious than Full Metal Alchemist is, lots of blood. I think I'm just going to break down and order the full series this weekend.

This is Horror.com not http://www.englishforums.com/ so forgive me if I introduce a little bit of slang into my vernacular on occasion. Whether it be a faux word created by a marketing department or simply a popular word that isn’t (as of yet) acknowledged by Merriam-Webster, I'm not an English major and don't intend to act like one on-line. I’m sorry if you disapprove but I can assure you that if you detest such uncivilized use of the English language you can simply browse past my posts because I predict no change in the forseeable future. Now then, last seen movie for me was The Sword of Doom again. What an inspired movie, and superbly acted from beginning to end. I think The Sword of Doom is well deserving of all the critical and viewer praise that it has garnered.

yeah, i'm not a fan of big bloated scarred boobs either.

they look like they are getting the operations wholesale in hollywood ..

30 bucks a set and we'll throw in a free pair of kneepads.

boob jobs look good when dressed - but they look nasty naked.

(there are some exceptions - haile berry - but not many)

Rope

One of the most underrated movies of all time. No one ever mentions this, but I think it's one of Hicthcock's finest.

I loved the way he shot this one; with really long takes. I agree with you 100%, one of Hitchcock's best.

i think someone else mentioned they had recently seen this movie b/c one of the crew from dog soldiers was connected and this is why i gave it a chance. if anything i thought it would be good campy fun.... shit, was i wrong. i can't say how much i'm sick of the stereotypical teen cast: stoner, nice guy, jock, slut, smart sexy girl, etc. if writers have to keep pumping out this crap they could at least put in someone out of the ordinary, like a crackhead transvestite or something. the only thing i liked about this movie was the of the horrendous dialogue b/twn the stoners and the slut and also the scene where the hippie, smoking peyote hallucinates the creature as a cartoon. other than that the death scenes were laughable, the plot was paper thin, and the creature!!! that was the most enjoyable part of the film for me; seeing a guy run around on all fours in a bear costume w/ a huge-genetically mutated tasmanian devil mask was hysterical. needless to say the movie was an hour and a half, i finished it in 45 mins. not even reggie banister could save this movie.

Vodstok 08-09-2006 11:40 AM

its funny... As a writer, i have actually considered writing a complete piece of crap that i could be sure would sell (Mean Catgirls or something stupid....) Just so i could finance soemthing with quality. There is a lot to be said about pseudonyms...

Miss Olivia 08-09-2006 12:26 PM

I watched the original Batman movie, and it's still as fun as when I was a kid. Burgess Meredith, Lee Merriweather, Ceasar Romero, Adam West....how can you not like this movie? It was made to be campy, and it's perfect in it's campiness. I would watch this more than the remake, just because it's FUN.
The U.N. being dehydrated into different colored powders is awesome. If only it were that easy.

The later batman mopvies were "new batman movies", not remakes.

A remake would be fucking HILARIOUS!

But it would only be hilarious if they used Adam West and Burt Ward! :D

You're right, oh nitpicker supreme.
And a REAL remake would be awesome.

newb 08-09-2006 07:00 PM

I brought my projector out in the yard last night and had a "drive-in" [ anyone remember those ] night with my son and one of his friends.
Watched a couple of crappy movies

Cerberus....piece-o-shit sci-fi channel movie about the three headed dog and Atilla the Hun's sword.....bad.....cgi was laughable.

Severed---not great but better then the first choice...lumberjack zombies anyone. At least it was played straight...getting real tired of horror-comedies....unless done well ala "Shaun of the Dead".

Just watched V For Vendetta....And...Umm...It was NOT a horror movie:mad:

I honestly was not aware of that beforehand...

It was still pretty cool though...It had some 'horrorish' elements to it...

joshaube 08-09-2006 07:53 PM

Haha, how could you think it WAS? XD Not know anything about it beforehand? It's based on a comic book.

lol...Yeah...I was actually informed that it was "based on a comic book"...About halfway into it, when I said, "This isn't a horror movie" :D

All that I had been told about it was "You should go see it...It's really good"...So, naturally I figured it must be a horror movie, because:

1) It was recommended to ME, by someone who KNOWS me...And...

2) He said it was "good"

Rewatched Kairo in preparation for Pulse, but I just found out Pulse won't be opening at our local theater this Friday.:( Still, I got to watch a really good movie, so that must count for something.

Even though I liked White Noise (stop booing and hissing...I get the point;)), I hope Pulse at least tries to stick to Kairo. If it doesn't...well maybe I should be glad it's not opening in my hometown.

There was a time that movie was cool... Mindblowing.

tarcher80 08-10-2006 05:50 AM

little miss sunshine:

the best dark comedy since the royal tenenbaums. i was not prepared to laugh that much! i cannot stress enough how hysterically funny this movie is. after reading about the movie i was expecting something more subdued and serious, like june bug, but this was like national lampoon's vacation meets american beauty. and the characters are great (look out for alan arkin as the heroin bumping disgruntled grandfather). good stuff, highly recommended.

when this came out i saw it in the theatres ... i was caught between being too young to think it was cool and old enough to enjoy the cheeze-factor.

i hated it more than any other movie i'd seen up to that time ..

the plot (using the term loosely as possible) the horrendous acting ... and the frigging laser beams ..

Not to mention the "martial art" fights. Laaaaaame.

"Look at me. I´m a ninja, so i can fly!!" Please...

But the standard for Ninja movies in the 80s was pretty low (not that i can think of any ninja movies after the 80s), which made the "American ninja" trilogy look like a fucking masterpiece.

And when you see them now you just go, "Why?? Why did i like that crap???".
