Nightwing

Pretty fun semi-cheesey film about vampire bats invading Indian territory in the 70s. David Warner is fun as a bat exterminator and Strother Martin has a supporting role.

i saw that one in the theatres when it came out and was disappointed by the lack of gore (which is all i wanted then)

Wouldnt mind seeing it again. I believe there was a book as well..

The Giant Gila Monster (from the 50 Movie Pack of Horror Classics)

[Rec] ~ every single good thing that I have heard about this movie is absolutely true. This actually came really close to scaring me (if I am being completely honest, it probably did scare me a little. Just a little....haha :o )

Midnight Meat Train ~ another winner with me, some good gore, a good creepy story, I didn't care for some of the casting and it wasn't just spectacular or anything, but still, I liked it a lot.

Reeker ~ I wasn't too crazy about the beginning, or the end, but some of what was in between was decent. Overall, I enjoyed it for what it was.

The Omen. I love this movie, although I have found I cant stop doing Gregory Peck impressions through the whole thing.


I also had an epiphany while watching it:

Why do studios go through the time and money to remake movies like this when they could save a bundle, and make a bundle, re-releasing them in theaters?

I would gladly shell out 8 bucks to get to see classics like Aliens and the Exorcist on a big screen.

Granted, it was over a decade ago, but I did it when the Star Wars movies were re-released, and I bet enough people would go to make it a profitable venture. Its got to be a better business model then spending 30 million to remake a classic and barely recoup the money spent because after the first 2 weeks, word of mouth destroys any attraction the marketing has created.

I would like to hear your Gregory Peck impression....could you do it please?

P2: I've been trying to watch all of Aja's work as I'm a big fan of Inside, Haute Tension and the Hills Have Eyes remake. This one was not on par with the other movies as it is very tame in the gore department (this being his strong suit). I still found it to be a decent movie though.

i've explained this a million times ... follow closely ....

the vast majority of people who pay to see movies in the theatre are kids.
these kids dont want to see old people in movies - they just want to see other kids.

show The Omen in the theatres and you're going to get older (and cool younger) people who are die hard horror fans.

of the older people who do see movies - not very many go to horror movies - let alone horror movies you can watch on DVD in the privacy of their homes - where there is a pause button, a toilet and a fridge.


thats why the only time these movies get shown on the big screens are in rep theatres on special revival nights .. and they dont do great business.

There was a tad bit of drinking involved, but not very much at all. Mostly just a little bit of beer and some wine.

And it was quite easy to tell who really wanted to be there because of the movies and who was there just because it was something to do.
