COCO (2017). Just back from visiting daughter/son-in-law and was less than impressed with this, despite their high recommendations. Maybe it's the PIXAR animation (never have liked it) and the retread of so many other films, but Ok for one viewing, if You must. **

That's been on my list for awhile. Maybe I'll skip it.

Say, did you like PIXAR's Monsters, Inc? I thought that was a great film. Funny creative heart warming, even looked good. I like the original Ice Age too.

Haven't seen either one...maybe I will take the plunge.

SUPER 8 (2011). Although there is a lot of re-treading executive Producer Speilberg's old movies in here, I really like this one. Decent FX and for the most part, the kids are really good in here. Also, Kudos to JJ Abrahms for really capturing the time period it's supposed to take place in, although I think remember hearing "My Sharona" and "Don't Bring Me Down" later in the summer, but am probably wrong.
Well worth seeing and although the Sci-Fi angle is pretty good, I wish more attention had been focused on the kids and THE CASE. ****

RED CHRISTMAS 2016

There's a couple of movies with this title out there but this is the one with Dee Wallace. A mother gathers her rather eclectic family members together for one last Christmas dinner before she sells the family home. A hideous part of her past comes back to join the gathering.

That’s all swell, but what’s your rating?

If you drop the polished look, made it darker and gritty, drop the humor....and had the kid follow up on some of the nasty things he was saying, coulda been an underground film. Kept me interested til the end.

Excellent film.

2 hours and a half long. I guess the Directors Cut is 2 hours 35 so its missing 5 or so minutes. It seems like they messed with the child murders but that's alright. Doesn't matter to me.

It's a look into the mind and actions of a serial killer then it goes full arthouse with the ending. Matt Dillon was excellent. I felt like there was no need to walk out of the theater like they did at Cannes.

One scene caught me. It was kinda..creepy, but then it made me smile.

Just watched VENOM - what a lot of crap. That was the laziest movie I've ever seen. I'm not sure Tom Hardy had a single line of coherent dialogue. Wow - cannot believe that it made so much money. I guess people will see anything even vaguely associated with Marvel.

Two monkey thumbs DOWN!

Krampus (2015)
5/10

An extended family that doesn't get along so well are beseeched by a winter storm over Christmas, and also attacked by the anti-Saint Nicholas creature Krampus and his minions.

Good production value, cinematography, sound and effects. Some holiday dedication to family matters and characters. It's always a bit unsettling when the family adults and dropping F-bombs among young children -- those type of things degrade the possible deep family bond that we'd want to intensify the threat of the villains and contrast the cold void of the villains.

Perhaps a classic case of a film not knowing what it wants to be, too many chefs, trying to be everything. It would have been easy to clean it up and bit and become an effective family film -- which is not to say it would be for kids, nor just 'safe' for kids, but would be enjoyable to adults as a family film, which seems to be a lost concept.

Finally managed to watch it the whole way through and I can only agree with your rating. I was honestly bored all the way through.

A simple favor... ugh!

More like a simple steaming pile. Yet another movie completely and deliberately misrepresented in the trailer because the filmmakers knew what a piece of shit it was but still wanted to deceive people anyway into going to see a completely unrealistic movie about people who are so fucking terrible, they probably wouldn't live to be the ages they are without somebody shooting them in the head out of anger first who are treating this really naive girl like garbage and yet she waits on them hand and foot and inconveniences their life when a stupid bitch goes missing. This movie angered me at how poorly written it was and how obnoxious it is. I tried and I couldn't finish it. I know people are assholes but this goes a little beyond belief. I would recommend this movie about as much as I would recommend shooting yourself in the foot. If it's your thing go for it, but don't say I didn't warn you first.

The Mist: In spite of knowing the outcome through youtube, this turned out to be an enjoyable watch. A crushing end, perhaps even made worse by the realisation that the religious whackos would probably get saved as well.

I know you probably don't give a shit about what I have to say but this movie just seen weird. I mean if you take the elements of the first one and apply it to this one, it doesn't make a lot of sense that the guy didn't accept the offer considering what kind of a Maniac he was to begin with. It's weird that I pick really weird shit like that out of movies and if there's something that bothers me it ruins the whole thing. Maybe I'm a bit OCD or something.

Hey despite our differences of the past, I always respect your opinion on film, art and music. You are well versed on all three; very intelligent.

I didn't care for 13 or this one really. Although in 14 he was much more disgusting.

I've let go of those things and yeah I do pick at you every now and then but I don't hold any ill feelings. In a way he did me a favor but I was in a really rough Place back then. Anyway... I liked the first one pretty well but this one was a bit odd considering the part about him refusing to sell the girl and the thing about his son. I like the first one a lot more but with this one the only thing I really liked was the dark web Parts because for some reason something about the dark web fascinates me.

AUTOPSY OF THE DEAD (2009). Very much enjoyed this expose on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD which focuses more on the minor players ie, those who played ghouls, the posse and technical staff. If You are a NOTLD geek as I am, this is essential viewing. Also, some neat "Before/After" location shots. ****

After reading the little bit deadsy wrote about it, I gave the house that Jack built and honest and legit chance. I don't know why I am so picky about movies but I just couldn't stand the writing in this. I mean I made it past the second part and the woman in the first part absolutely made no sense. She would purposely provoke a guy that was being nice enough to drive her all over the damn place and then basically call him a pussy. In what world do these people think shit like this happens? And then as if that wasn't stupid enough to fucking woman letting the guy in her house was even worse than the first lady and then the cup who let him go without questioning him getting his name or anything did it for me. I mean maybe I am a bit picky but I would like to pretend that people at least give a fuck about the shit they are writing instead of just shiting out diarrhea and painting a page with it and think it's a script. I know that's harsh but if people don't give a fuk about trying to entertain people without half-assing it then I shouldn't give a shit calling it what it is, shit.

Halloween (2018) 8.5/10

Considering everything this Series has been put through, this was great! I mean it feels weird knowing the story leading up to this, despite this movie cancelling out every single sequel which is what made it feel weird because as viewers we cannot just forget all the sequels. With that said I don't understand why they couldn't have found a way where Laurie either survived in Resurrection or it was a dream or something since they were totally able to do the switch on us with how H2O ended. I also cannot help but feel like if they don't make another one then this one was a complete waste. It would be a very bizarre ending to the story if it is but I'm holding the hope that we were left with a cliffhanger rather than an ending.
