Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein !
|
The Mummy's Hand.
Disappointing. |
The Wasp Woman.
Interesting story but not too pleasing climax. |
"Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" (1956)
Such a great movie |
Dracula (1931) ...
I always enjoyed this one, and it seems to have gotten better over the years. Feels entirely different from the other Universal horror classics, definitely still has a foot in the door of silent films. |
We actually watched the original THE WOLFMAN the other night. Amazing how well the production values still hold up. And great cast (though it's easier to believe that Chaney, Jr. turns into a wolf than that Claude Rains is his father).

This forum is for classic era horror films- defined in the forum description as horror films from the 1960s and before. Please discuss modern horror films in the forum titled "Modern Horror films."

Night of the Hunter. Gets better every time.

"Horror Of Dracula"
-Christopher Lee One of the greats |
I Saw What You Did
I remember this one from my older sisters alwaus saying "I saw what you did and I know who you are." It is a somewhat forgettable minor film from William Castle... could make for a good remake;) |

And just for the record...It was remade: I Saw What You Did (1988) |
I just finished "A Bucket of Blood".
And before that, I watched "Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter". |
You have great taste in movies. And you know what classic horror is.
Two points in your favor. |

Give me leave To speak my mind, and I will through and through Cleanse the foul body of the infected world - II.viii (60 - 62) ... But I digress. ... The last "Classics" I watched recently with Fortunato in mind: http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV...X98_SY140_.jpg Beautifully tragic, macabre, and surprisingly gory (I can only imagine how audiences received it). It's the kind of movie that, the more I think about it, the more I honestly appreciate it as a true classic. The imagery is so sad and stunning, especially the end. A true ground-breaking horror film. I'm also interested in its US release, The Horror Chamber of Dr. Faustus. I wonder how the original was edited to produce this abomination and marvel at American's need to sensationalize the already sensational. |
Eyes Without a Face is amazing. I watched it about 10 years ago in a theatre. A showing sponsored by a local college. There were a bunch of "sophisticated college students" in the audience LAUGHING at the movie! I wanted to kill them all.

You now have to watch the "brilliant" companion film to "Jesse James..." the great beyond words "Billy The Kid vs Dracula" I love them both. Latest horror classic for me: "Vampire Circus" |

I'll be Watching the Bela Lugosi triple Pack: White Zombie, The Corpse Vanishes and, One body too many. One body too many has Jack Haley who played the Tin Man in Wizard of Oz, love that dude. |
I loved White Zombie. It had a great atmosphere and it looked great. I loved Lugosi's usual 1930's type villain.
|
Talking about the master horror piece : THE BIRDS by A. Hitchcock.
White Zombie is the master piece of the zombie film before the George Romero' films.
We are still during White Zombie in a colinial way. Romero has been the first author to take zombie out of his exploitedf condition; Romero made zombies be human. |
Hey guys, if we're talking about classic horror movies, there's a special projection for the 45th anniversary of the Hicthcock's movie "the birds"
The L.A Edison theater plays the exciting movie The Birds on the 14/09. The link are: http://www.jvaff.org http://www.edisondowntown.com The main actress Tippi Hedren will be there during this projection. Will u be there ? it sounds to be great !!!!! Chris from L.A. |
Human, are you talking about Land of the dead? I figured White Zombie had the more human zombies because they didn't attack or just go after flesh they were trained, which still catagorizes them as zombies. They worked in the mill and even drove the carriage.
The corpse Vanishes is what I watched, another Lugosi movie. That one was alright nothin too special. |

Dracula (1931)
Dracula's Daughter Son Of Dracula classics all |
The Two Faces of Dr. Jeckyll.
Hammer's take on Jeckyll and Hyde. Quite strange. Chris Lee is in it, but in a secondary role. |

It was pretty tame for a Hammer film.

"The Ghoul" (1933)
-Boris Karloff Karloff plays a man who believes in the ancient power of the Egyptian gods, when he dies, he is buried with a valuable jewel, a gift to the God Anubis, the jewel is stolen and Karloff returns to enact his revenge. Fun British made melodrama. Despite his top billing, Karloff is more of a secondary character and is virtually silent throughout the whole movie. Not great, but fun. |
