Pirates of the Caribbean 2. I liked it, but it wasn't as good as the first one IMO. There were a few scenes that went on too long; they could have cut them in half and made the movie flow better. I also thought that Johnny Depp's character was a little "overdone" (if there is such a term) this time; somebody needed to tone him down a little.
I was really impressed with the special effects. They were pitch perfect for the movie...not too much, just enough. I really liked the scenes with Davy Jones/his crew and the Kraken. All in all, it wasn't a bad way to spend an afternoon. |

C.H.U.D. 2: Bud the CHUD
Silly monster comedy from the dreaded 80's...strangely hypnotic. It can't be called a "bad movie" because no one involved was taking it seriously. There is a certain pervasive dullness to it, but a lively synth musical score keeps it moving. Most everyone (including Gerrit Graham as the title character) is hamming it up pretty good! |

Ultraviolet
Ug, what a waste of time. Horrible plot that made no sence, terrible actors spouting awful dialogue...Im running out of adjectives here. Visually it wasnt too bad, but even that got old fast. Worst movie Ive seen in a long time. |
Haha, Ultraviolet... "Are you mental?" is the one line that I can quote that sums up all the dailogue. I seriously laughed out loud when that line was spoke. Ugh is right.
But underneath this all, I did find something REMOTELY enjoyable. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but at the same time it's not too far off. --- Silence of the Lambs; You're kidding me, right? This is a classic? A top 250 of all-time? BULLSHIT. This was probably the most horrid piece of shit I've ever seen. Anthony Hopkins' acting was SO bloody terrible I could barely stomach the film!! Glad Jodie Foster gave up on the sequel as well because JESUS! She can't deliver a line to save her sorry face from being devoured. The storyline was ridiculous, the "thrill / mystery" parts and any twists in the movie were just plain TERRIBLE and the whole thing was just BORING. I'm joking. I was really, really pleased with this film. I must say Anthony delivers one of the most UNNERVING performances I have seen. His cell conversations with Clarice sent shivers down my spine. Only one gripse with this movie. When SPOOOILER Hannibal attacks the two police men and eats them. I felt like laughing, it was just very cheesy-ish. The scene directly after with the music and a blood smeared face was quite cool, though END SPOOOILER I've seen the sequel, not this before, and I'm eager to rewatch it. Heard it's not as good as this though. Can't remember from what I saw way back when it was released. |

The sequel is pretty good...Id agree that it's not nearly as good as Silence, but I still enjoyed it. Oh and if you havent seen it, Id like to be the first of a long line of members here that would like to point you toward Manhunter. Though I personally didnt like it as much as Silence, it's much better than Hannibal, and it puts Red Dragfon (which is a remake of Manhunter) absolutly to shame. See it. |
I actually caught part of Manhunter on Scream, with good ol' Grisham. Got a laugh out of that. I didn't see all of it, but from what I saw, it look pretty good. Might have to hunt it down if they don't re-air it again (but still, those commercials every five minutes may make me track it down on video either way).

Night Thirst
It is amazing to me that movies this bad can get mass production deals. I am in the middle of watching one of those horror movie 4 packs (This one is called "Bad Taste Cinema Presents... SLEAZY SLASHERS") and so far, neither of the first two films on it had any sort of budget at all!!! These are seriously like movies that got made with a few friends, a camcorder, and whatever they could find around the house to use as props. In any event, being that I like to make no budget films myself, I can appreciate them on a certain level. Night Thirst was less entertaining than the first one I watched and the story seemed really, really stupid and nonsensical. Bad script, bad acting, terrible story. There were a few nice boobies in it though... D- |
Definitely you have to watch Manhunter but get it on vid or DVD rather than have it spoilt with commercial breaks. Failing that tape it so you can fast forward through the commercials.

forgetable flashy film but it did have some unexpected gore |
Peter Jackson's King Kong, plus a bunch of sick crap on Lifetime Movie Network.
King Kong was all kinds of fun, i really liked it. LMN has more psychos and sick people than any other channel. I think i have a monthly cycle now, though, so that isnt good. Hey, 3 months of unemployment does weird things to people |
Last night I watched Van Wilder. Not really my style, but it was better than I'd expected. It was pretty stupid, but I still enjoyed it for the most part.
This morning, I just watched Brokeback Mountain. Yet again, not really my style. I didnt really like it much...it was well acted and everything, but the story just couldnt keep me interested. Now Im off to watch The Notebook:rolleyes: |
Maniac Cop. Haven't seen it in ages and with my bad memory I thought it was going to be good. Fuck was I wrong!! Sorry not even Bruce Campbell can save this turd!
3/10 and thats for Bruce. |

A description I wrote for an Ebay ad:
"NIGHTMARE IN BLOOD" (1978) A real product of the 1970's. This is the unbelievably weird obscure horror "drama" about a San Francisco horror convention in the mid-70's whose special guest, Malakai (basically a Christopher Lee-type horror star) is actually a real vampire. Malakai has more on his mind than simply drinking blood...he's using his career as a horror star to shape the public's opinion of vampires! It seems that Malakai wants respect, and he will ruthlessly destroy anyone who undermines his rather ill-defined plans. Can the directors of the Horror Convention stop Malakai and his cackling, murderous assistants, the original Burke and Hare? Directed by infamous horror host John Stanley, this film is an interesting fantasy about the entertainment world and the frightful realities that may lurk within the mythologies. Perhaps could be considered the predecessor of films like "Wes Craven's New Nightmare," "Shadow of the Vampire" and similar satires. This film is often awkward in its approach, and yet there is a certain intelligence that drives it and keeps it going. Well, if the above description hasn't clued you in yet, this is NOT a horror film for the mainstream horror consumer's shelf. In many ways it is not scary at all--it is weirdly fascinating instead, with a gaggle of odd characters constantly spouting philosophical observations. Considering its small budget, it is very nicely photographed in widescreen (2.35:1). Director Stanley and co-writer/co-producer Kenn Davis appear on a commentary track during which they amusingly recount the whole sad, expensive tale of making and selling this wonderful oddball masterpiece. Unique and engrossing--a must for any film buff who loves the strange atmosphere of 70's movies. |
Hard Boiled.
best action movie ever made.... |
I never got very far into it. i dont much care for John Woo. I think he's overrated.
I hope he and tarantino get squished under Substance rock. Then there will be some substance over style ;) |
