The other two parts are on my list. It's possible I saw one of them already but I can't remember. Is it a good trilogy?

Halloween, 2018.

Absolutely a brilliant film! Michael was brutal as fuckkk! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Four things made this movie for me. Michael, the music score and the cinematography. And the KILLS! Off screen slaughter was just as wonderful as on. You saw his aftermath and it was beautiful! Only one part got me saying, oh fuck no! Lets not do this...and they stopped. Thank fuck. Didn't like it at all but it quickly redeemed themselves. Whew!

Yes, this is Halloween 78 for the 2000's! Lucky us.

1978 Halloween owns my heart, always.

Wow! I was iffy about it and didn't want to spend so much money going to the theater but now I am to see it. I will still probably wait until it shows up online but reading this got me super excited.

This looks like a short surveillance camera video rather than a contemporary film. I mean I do realize it is a contemporary film but I was thinking more along the lines of actual movies. With that said, I don't believe any of these supposed ghost videos.

A lot of effort went into the film. I didn't like by the middle of the film. It just seemed like it managed to be weird, and an effects exercise, but it didn't have a good time with the weird, like say Evil Dead 2 had fun. It seemed like it wanted to be profound, but I found nothing profound at all.

Taking Lives (2004)
5/10

An FBI agent (Angelina Jolie) in Canada helps local police find a serial killer who takes on the identity of those he kills.

The film seems an attempt to copy the film Se7en, right from the start with opening sequence being a collage of crime photos and serial killer segments with some Trent Reznor-ish music. And it goes on from there. However it's a poor copy.

The main problem is the main character, played by Jolie, plays with her cards too close to her chest, and despite the excellent efforts of Ethan Hawke, who plays the killer's next interest, the audience isn't able to bond with the shallow and cliche characters. The film also seems to have trouble grafting the mother of the killer into the film, a facet that tends confuse more than enlighten.

For fans of the thriller genre, it's competently made, and works a bit more as a mystery, as it lacks suspense and has no horror; but be ready for a quite ridiculous ending.

She was in a way better movie similar in tone "The Bone Collector".

Ah, I actually never saw that one either. Denzel Washington can't walk. I was thinking of Kiss the Girls, which was decent, but that's Ashley Judd. Jolie and Judd are kind of similar, aren't they? Kind of strange too, RT critic gives Bone Collector 29% but IMDB gives a decent 6.7/10 rating.

I think some of the best thrillers since 1990 besides Lambs and Se7en were Fracture, The Prestige and Insomnia. What do you think? Other better than average ones were Frailty, Red Dragon, The Cell. But there's a ton I'm sure I haven't seen. And some great not-at-all-horror thrillers were Michael Clayton, A Few Good Men and A Time to Kill.

Did you ever see Kalifornia with Brad Pit? I haven't; just seen it in a list, never heard of it.

I Spit On Your Grave 3 -7/10

I know this movie came out 3 years ago but I just finally saw it for the first time today and I liked it a lot more than the other two. It was a much more entertaining story and I don't know if it's because the movie didn't have the intense rape scenes like they did in the previous two or what but this one was just easier to watch and I enjoyed it.

Fatal Games (1984). Solid slasher flick set in an Olympic background. It also garners some bonus points starring Sally Kirkland who I didn't even recognize at first?

Videodrome - 7.5/10

Here is yet another cult classic I just now watched for the first time. This movie is trippy as fuck! It leads me to wonder what was real and what wasn't. Or perhaps he was just Fifty Shades of batshit crazy. Regardless, I hate that it took me so long to finally watch this.

It's one of a kind film, ain't it? You can't expect what you're going to see.

"It leads me to wonder what was real and what wasn't. " It's been decades since I've seen it, which was only once, but I will venture to say, that after I read a critique of the film (and I don't know if they were quoting Cronenberg), I think not knowing what was real or not is the point, it's done on purpose. In the film, it hints that there's an extra 'wave' in the video stream that causes hallucinations, or something more supernatural than that. In the critique Cronenberg was wondering what all the new dark, trippy, horror, violence, trash, sexuality, etc in video rentals to mainstream society was going to do to the collective psyche of society... and he was suggesting a lot more than nothing.

Check out "Naked Lunch" and "Existenz", both by the same guy, both similarly mindfuckky.
