salò o le 120 giornate di sodoma (salò, or the 120 days of sodom) (1975)
okay. so i'd seen this already about five or six years ago. i remember being incredibly disturbed and perplexed by it. i wondering if, perhaps, it wouldn't be as shocking as i remembered it. wrong. it's interesting how pasolini uses gorgeous composition and setting to contrast the atrocities committed in the film. it gives the whole film a necessary detachment. it really is a pretty brilliant (albeit miserable and terrifying) piece of angry, angry filmmaking. |
Brutal Massacre
It took me three tries to get through it and I'm not even sure why I bothered. I guess because I liked so many of the actors involved (not even counting the cameos). I just didn't really find it funny... Born to Fight |
Rolling Thunder (1977)
Hearts of Darkness (1991) |
Wasn't able to watch the whole thing, but I caught some highlights of Julius Caesar today on TCM.
Despite his accent, Brando made an incredible Mark Antony...I dont think I've ever heard the famous "Lend me your ears" monologue done so powerfully. I really have to track this down an watch it in its entirety. |
Pushing Tin.

Tropic Thunder ...
made me laugh - loved the 'trailers' at the beginning |
