Leprechaun: Origins (2014)

First of all, this one has nothing to do with the Leprechaun series starring Warwick Davis. You can expect something different.

+The cast/acting is better than what you expect from movies like this.
+Same goes for how it was filmed and such.
+I liked the locations

-Lots of horror clichés
-Besides typical dumb decisions some things didn't make sense.
-For an Origins movie there wasn't enough origin. I would have loved more depth.
-Wasted potential. Could've been an interesting movie if they took another direction (maybe a Lovecraftian one) and exploited the origins and history more.

Holy crap, was I surprised by how much I'd love this movie! This is one of the most entertaining horror movies I've ever seen. It's smart, bloody, and darkly funny, too. The biggest problem was the acting from nearly everyone (except the main girl, who was pretty good), and the excess shaky cam. However, when it wasn't shaky cam, the shots looked beautiful.

"Into the Storm" 6/10

You would've thought with such amazing cgi and effects this would be one helluva disaster movie. Sadly it also contained a bunch of annoying cliché characters you just wanted to see get blown away in all kinds of creative ways. But nooo..
Also, the camera work was all over the place. We get cell phone recordings, hand-held cameras and surveillance camera recordings to make it oh so authentic. Altho I could swear a few of the shots was made with a normal camera. It's just a mess and i'm not even sure they saved a lot of money doing it this way, which is a shame, coz shot normal this movie could have been a lot better than "Twister". In the end it wasn't. Still woth a watch tho.

"Leprechaun: Origins" 3/10

I'm pretty sure the creators had no idea what a leprechaun looks like, coz this bland turd had nothing to do with the former movies or the little bearded fellow in the green clothes. Instead we get 4 young people you couldn't give a rats ass about running around in a forrest from one cabin to the next, trying to escape some kind of monster (I refuse to call it a leprechaun). It's genric, it's boring and i couldn't wait till it was over.

Horrible insult to a franchise that isn't even that good.

Interesting movie that held my interest throughout. The acting is really good and you really feel for the characters. Loses points for being too artsy for me and for having a very misleading title

Could easily have been a horror movie with one single change.

Personally i likes it a lot, mostly due to the two main characters/actors.

Yeah it really could've. The actors were great and really made the movie. I just kept waiting for them to reveal her secret only to realize its more of a metaphorical secret. I kinda felt cheated. Plus all the water scenes were too artsy for me. Its just not my thing.
