I'm about to watch "Gargoyle". I guess it was originally a SCI-FI broadcast. I'm pretty sure its gonna suck. On the bright side, my son, whom works at a video store also brought home "Saw" tonight. I never saw [no pun intended ] it at the theatre.

newb 02-11-2005 06:28 PM

I watched a movie last night called "SEPTEMB8R TAPES". It was shot in Afghanistan a year after september 11. Its kind of like a Blair Witch fake documentary type movie. I'm not sure how I felt about it.The footage was very interesting and you knew that they were in danger on more than one occassion, most of it was staged but for an American to be in that part of the world was very ballsy, but to make a fictional movie for profit with the still sensitive content kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Satan's School for Girls

it was bad from beginning to end, lame and predictable.

American Psycho is coming on right now. USA has been airing alot of horror movies lately.

I thought it was a really good movie, Christian Bale was great, I couldn't stand those preppy assholes he worked with they were aggravating as hell but other than that I thought it was very entertaining. The first kill scene was hilarious(IMO), I thought it was funny everytime he went on his rants about the music he played before every kill, I guess I just found how far off his block he was funny period.

Catwoman

I thought it was watchable at best but you put Halle Berry in a skin tight leather suit and watchable goes up to pretty good.

"Bichunmoo".

Hereīs a comment from IMDB that fits my thoughts on this movie very well:

In terms of plot and storytelling, Bichunmoo was weak and slow. It was far too long (1 hour and 55 minutes to tell a very simple story), and most of it was incredibly dull.

There were two plots; firstly the Bichunmoo martial arts secrets, and secondly the love story. None of them worked particularly well; the martial arts plot was particularly undeveloped. In the middle of the story, the action jumps some 12 or 15 years, which is quite confusing, as it isn't portrayed very well. You sit with a feeling of having to fill in a lot of blanks yourself.

Action-wise there isn't much to enthuse about, and the overall story and storytelling style can get no more that a "4" rating from me. I will reluctantly raise that to a "5", though, because of the many visually beautiful shots that occur throughout the movie.

But all things considered, this is a movie you can live just fine without having seen

Before I get to the last movie I watched, I need to say something. When you start watching a movie with as high expectations as I had of this, usually you get disapointed [Ex. that aplies to me- Exorcist]. But on a rare occaision, you go into a movie with very high expectations, and the movie blows right past them. The Godfather, which I watched for the 1st time last night was just such a movie. Some of the deaths, one in particular[It would be a spoiler], actually came damn close to bringing a tear to my eye. One of the absolute best movies ever made, I look forward to seeing parts 2 and 3.

Dragonheart ... cause my kid likes dinosaurs and I'm running out of ideas.

This movie doesnt hold up too well.
Quaid had some pretty bad moments ..

The Dragon looked great and Thewlis was solid as usual.

I didnt really like Connery doing the voice of the dragon either ...

Vodstok 02-14-2005 06:08 AM

Dragonheart is luike the Dungeons and Dragons movie: A really disappointing flop that has gone great lengths to murder fantasy as a medium in film.

Lord of the Rings was a wonderful shot in the arm, and maybe some more good fantasy movies may be made, but its unlikely.

i'm interested to see what they do with The Chronicles of Narnia
Like Dune, the first book starts off simply - but they get pretty funky as they go ..

Vodstok 02-14-2005 06:13 AM

Shit, im just hoping they get off their asses and make a decent movie of American McGee's Alice. There is so much potential for a great dark fantasy there...

They will probably let paul Anderson or Uwe Boll take a whopping shit on it, making it into a shallow, retarded plotless action movie....

Same thing happened to me last night when I went to see Million Dollar Baby. I'm a BIG Clint Eastwood fan so I have high expectations for any of his films and it was no different last night I went to the theater expecting to see one of if not the best movies I'd ever seen and it didn't disappoint one bit, I thought Clint Eastwood,Morgan Freeman and Hilary Swank all did fantastic jobs very much so deserving of their oscar nominations. This is one of the only two movies that almost had me in tears. It's definately my favorite Eastwood film(or at least a tie with The Good,The Bad and The Ugly)and in my top three all time favs.

Urge, have you seen that movie (i guess itīs from the 70īs) where some kids are going through a cave and when they come out on the other side, they find that they have traveled back in time and are standing in the middle of a pre-historic world?

I saw it as a child and found it very good and entertaining. Could be somethin for your kid.;)

Canīt remember the title though.:(
