Problem is we have Netflix, we only get two at a time; we both keep adding to the list and pushing stuff further and further down....some of it we just will never get to I suppose.....so many movies, so little time.....:) We do have a video store here that has pretty good horror selection, which helps.

Should have known there would be a remake of The Eye coming up soon. I'm not what you would call a Jessica Alba fan, but I am sure I will see it.....

the_real_linda 05-22-2007 06:31 PM

lol im not much of a fan but she's hardly kick out of bed worthy.....

theres an 'into the mirror' remake' with keifer sutherland in the works too

Jenna hope all is well, A remake of the Eye is due not sure when, but it's a
certainty, but one very strange reason the 2nd "Eye" movie was called "The Eye"10, very confusing, in pre-production is a 3rd Japanese "Eye" movie, now
i wonder what they will call that one!! Here we go again "The Ring 3" is also
on the cards. Now Jenna one of the best Asian horrors would have to be "A Tale Of 2 Sisters", i kid you not looks as though they are going to make an
American version soon!!! I guess when an Asian horror is so popular it seems
as though they can't get their own ideas, Oh well.

slayer666 05-26-2007 05:40 AM

Acacia.

This strange Korean flick will appeal to fans of the creepy kid genre. The kid reminded me a little of Damien in the original Omen. Like most Asian horror, the story line was a bit confusing, but I'd say this one is worth a rental.

Right... Except for at least 2 things.

The kid in Acacia looked adorable and wasn't evil.

shutter, 8/10. its another jumpy, creepy ghost story using the tried and tested formula. i can't get enough of these. worth at least renting.

re-cycle - 10/10 man this movie was awesome.

Tell Me Something-
A quite gruesome serial killer flick. The gloomy visual style of the movie is quite similar to Seven and equally well done, there is an oppressive sense of menace present throughout and the serial killers handywork is quite graphic at times. There were two problems I had with Tell Me Something, the first issue was the pace of the movie which seemed drag a little too much in places, the second issue was the plot which I found a little muddled and confusing at times.Pretty good none the less 7/10

Thanks for your reply and interest, i have quite a few favourites i have bought the past couple of years, "Audition", Suicide Club" quite weird, but most of them are? Loved "RE-Cycle", and "The Host" in their own special effects etc.
Once i saw "The Eye" i was hooked on Asian Horror. Uncertain what your thoughts are on the above but an absolute gem is "A Tale Of Two Sisters"
the cover alone was amazing. Recently bought "Death Note" 1&2. I must admit
"Tell Me Something" looked o.k.

I really want to see Re-Cycle it sounds great, havn't seen The Host yet either.
Audition was my favourate Asian movie up until I saw A Tale of Two Sisters which blew me away.Tell Me Something is worth a watch,it just got a bit confused in places but i got the feeling the subtitles in this one didn't relate the story very well.

If you liked TMS you should definitely give "Memories of murder" a chance. It's at least twice as good and much more original. ;)

I just got through watching this and Smacky's right, this movie is awesome!!
Where to start on this one?The storyline begins like a standard Asian ghost story, however the movie soon takes a left turn into more Fantasy based elements and from here on in it was like nothing I had seen before. The Movie is Visually stunning throughout, from the scenes of everyday life to the scenes that concern the fantastic and the surreal, each and every frame is almost a piece of art.The imagery is stunning in its detail and overlayed with colours that perfectly blend with the mood of the movie at any given point.Anjelica Lee is outstanding in the lead role and Qigi Zeng is equally deserving of praise for her performance as the little girl.Full of themes, thought provoking, disturbing and at times poignant, beautiful and touching this is one hell of a movie10/10

Yep I liked it! :)

Could not agree with you more. A visually stunning movie, and the special
2 disc edition is also brilliantky packaged.Although there wasn't much dialogue
throughout the movie, it is one of my favourites, as well as the amazing
funny, strange, and very moving "The Host"

"Koma"2 or other wise known as "Home Sweet Home" is completely different to the first one, the start of the movie had me in tears, it's just a pity although
i don't encourage it, i have a dvd recorder, and i could send you a copy, we cannot do that uhuhuh, the site which they suggested "Koma"2 is a Japanese
site called "Kyonsi".

Redeu-ai [Red eye]
A good korean horror flick about a haunted train. As usual like other japanease/korean horror movies, it has also a creepy woman with her freaking long "Hair".....(I don know why 'hair' plays a major freaking role in these area of asian movies??)

anyway, the story starts with a girl who takes a job as a stewardess on a train to work the night shift. Strange things start to occur and passengers start dying mysteriously. She finds out that all the stuff going on might somehow be linked to a train crash of the same train a few years back and the people who died on it.......

Must admit Red-Eye i guess didn't look promissing, there is another similar
movie which has just been released, once again, ghosts, long black hair, called
"Ghost Train" have seen the trailer. Not sure if it's worth it though.

Dreadnaught

One of the best kung-fu flicks out there. It's got great fights, some good comedy, and a decent storyline.

jenna26 06-11-2007 09:43 AM

Infection ~ not great, but overall, I liked it okay. Some creepy moments, but some of it I really didn't like. Some of it I just didn't "get, but no surprise there I guess.

The Heirloom ~ liked this one a lot. Very creepy.

Battle Royale ~ sometimes ridiculous, sometimes disturbing, always interesting.....;) Good film, but I didn't really care for the last few minutes all that much.

bigcherry 06-11-2007 12:11 PM

Jenna, "Infection" must admit that is/was one movie that i was actually going to get, but with your review hmmm i can wait, must admit though although there was very little violence, but like yourself i enjoyed "The Heirloom"
quite atmospheric, "Battle Royale" must admit quite the opposite, bloodbath
could have been an app title, bought another one a few days ago beautifully shot quite moving, and one particular part i would consider quite disgusting
and graphic, makes "Audition" look tame "The Isle" check it out when you can.

jenna26 06-11-2007 03:44 PM

The Isle? Hadn't heard of that one, adding it to the Netflix list. Thanks for the recommendation. :)
Infection is definitely worth watching once, I would say. But no, I wasn't overly impressed. I thought I would like it a lot more then I did.

the_real_linda 06-11-2007 03:58 PM

the isle is definatley worth watching
