The 2006 version was much better.

ManchestrMorgue 06-19-2007 01:07 AM

Lately I have been playing Virtua Tennis 3, The Godfather, and GTR2 on the PC.

All good games.

Got them all for 1/2 price at an EB sale.

Virtua Tennis 3 is actually a lot of fun. Quite easy to get into, and the mini training games are enjoyable.

The Godfather is similar in many respects to GTA but has a mafia theme (obviously) and an interesting combat system.

GTR2 is a great racing simulation. Gives an amazing sense of speed especially when you choose nose cam. I anticipate this one will get a fair bit of repeat play.

My favorites were No Mercy and Shut Your Mouth. Those were good games.

Despare 06-19-2007 04:40 PM

No Mercy, Wrestlemania 2000, WCW Vs. NWO, WCW Vs. The World... all the N64 wrestling games by THQ were great. Smackdown Vs. Raw 2007 on the 360 is a ton of fun too though... I really wish Aki would get back into wrestling games for the states.

Anyhoo... I've been into on genre lately, turn based tactics games. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance led to Jagged Assault 2 which led to Shining Force 3 which led to Ogre Battle... I need help.

Good, Gametap has all those free games available now and JA2 was one of them. I used to play JA eons ago and remembered really enjoying it. A bit dated but hell... I'm playing Saturn games heh.

ManchestrMorgue 06-23-2007 04:51 AM

Star Wars Battlefront II on the PC...

It is a couple of years old now, but I picked it up cheaply. Just played the first 4 missions so far but it seems like a lot of fun.

MalevolentMachine 06-25-2007 05:55 PM

Snuffy's Safari and Animal Bingo.

Phalanx 06-26-2007 06:26 AM

Well...I thought I'd be playing through resident evil 4 right about now...I tried it, got over the fact that there were no zombies, realised that the game had evolved into a different type in this case, but could not get past the change in perspective and controls.
It feels like it's lost a part of itself, (not as bad, but) much like the "survivor" part of the series, and for me, the "new" control system just equalled lack of mobility and quickness...and even though it looks like a decent game with a good storyline, I just could not get into it.

I have a feeling that if there's a #5 it may be closer to the original games in terms of perspective and control.

Going to have my first play of GOW2 now...I'm sure I'll like THAT.

Jacob Singer 06-27-2007 12:45 AM

Shadow of the colossus

Phalanx 06-27-2007 12:56 AM

Honestly, how is that?
Still undecided.

Jacob Singer 06-27-2007 03:14 AM

I realy like it, each colossus it's a puzzle, the graphics are great and have a good soundtrack. Maybe the only things that I don't like are the camera (sometimes becomes your worst enemy) and it's a little bit short. But anyway it's a good game for people that are lookin' for something different

Phalanx 07-07-2007 09:23 AM

I've been playing both those (original psp released) GTA 3/VC spin-offs, turn at a time. They seem alright on the ps2, and probably one of the biggest handheld games I'd have ever seen.
The ST on the vice city one isn't quite as good, the missions in both can sometimes be too easy, but then again sometimes they piss you the fuck off too.
I'd reccomend VC Stories of the two of them in terms of both storyline and play/options...neither will let you down though.

Also the girl picked up that Rayman minigames thing, the one with all the rabbits. Man, those things look like fuckin' crackheads! freak me out man....but, it's pretty fun and one of the better partygames out there (although haven't played many of the newer minigame series)...kids of all ages would have to love this one, most adult types can get in on the fun too. I can see why they tried to pimp this one on the wii so much, it'd have to be just about perfect for those controls
Varied gameplay difficulty, but never stupidly hard (yet)...
Good buy at the current price for those that have been considering it, or a partygame like it.

I've KINDA picked up onimusha, which I know is great...for anyone not knowing already...it's kinda a faster-paced action survival series by capcom. Controls like resident evil with a bit of devil may cry thrown in...demon/magic themes as opposed to zombies. I'd reccomend it.
I keep getting sidetracked from this one though, bought too many games at the same time a while back...confusing.

misterhorror 07-11-2007 09:10 AM

I've just started playing horrorclix. Its pretty neat!:)

Despare 07-12-2007 06:47 PM

Sim Golf

Seriously

Phalanx 07-13-2007 12:39 AM

Still on GTA: Vice City Stories, with a few stages of Liberty City stories here and there, the girl is playing that one.
Stubbs the zombie is being ignored, haven't really got into that yet.

Anyone with a ps3 play that game I've been seeing at work all last week? It's downloadable from the playstationshop site, a space shooter where you fly around a planet over and over? Very impressive use of the dualcore 3d there...looks fun, but I've yet to have a hands on look. er, "star...something HD"? GOD I'D LOVE TO PLAY THAT STONED...How is it?

Also...I now officially work as a playstation gaming consult/technical advisor/warranty info/customer service guy for Sony. Get me a free PSP when I get trained next week....could well be the coolest job I've ever had.

ManchestrMorgue 07-13-2007 01:07 AM

Company of Heroes.

Just picked it up yesterday. Seems good (although I have only done the training missions and the first two campaign missions). Real time strategy set in World War II.

And it has a DirectX 10 patch! Finally a use for my 8800GTX :)

Dante'sInferno 07-13-2007 09:26 PM

World of Warcraft.

I've been returning to Gears of War in-between dominating other college teams with my Tarheel RB in legend mode on NCAA. GoW actually has some decent jumps in it, especially when it comes to the Kryll and of course hallway negotiation.

Arent the controls a bit twitchy in that one? I sure felt something like that when I played it.

Must be my disc.

The new NCAA? They're ok...

Online seems to be laggy and the passing game seems a bit weak to me but it's not enough to make it anything less than the best NCAA football game so far. One thing I've had a problem with is disc read errors though. I don't know if the game is glitchy or just my copy but my other games work fine.

Oh, another grip are the opponents. It seems like playing EMU is just as tough as playing Michigan. The teams just don't vary in difficulty, at least not in legend mode.

If you mean GoW, I think the controls are really good, except for maybe a dive here and there when I was looking for cover or a missed headshot because the aiming is a little sensitive.

Oblivion55 07-31-2007 09:40 AM

Right now i'm playing.
Kingdom Hearts 2
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2

deathrider 07-31-2007 05:59 PM

I havn't got any new games in a few weeks so I'm replaying throgh my old Mortal Kombat games. You just can't go wrong with MK games, like look at MK2 for examlpe, that son of a bitch is about 14 years old and it's still one of the best fighting games ever.
