Fleming's first choice to play Bond was David Niven, so clearly, in his mind, it was the sophistication and coolness that mattered most to him. Producers wanted someone younger, and more rugged- so we got Sean Connery. And he inhabited the character like no other actor, IMO.

I watched [I]The Eye[I] with my 12 year old niece and even she didn't like it. It was silly. I rented Funny Games and In Burges. I hope they are better.
