Then Sunday, my uncle's band played with Jon Spencer's band Heavy Trash (got to meet him as well), so I've been playing their new record I just picked up, too.

What's that Heavy Trash album like? I dig the early Jon Spencer Blues Explosion stuff (but didn't think much of them after the album Orange) and Pussy Galore anything like that?

Oh man, it was pretty great. My uncle is actually really good friends with the couple that owns Norton, so I get to be privy to some incredible goings-down. I also got to talk with Cynthia Plaster Caster at the Andre Williams reading, too. She was just there hanging out, so I bought her a copy of Andre's book. Haha, good times.

Anyway, I'm really digging this Heavy Trash album. It's fairly removed from Pussy Galore and Blues Explosion. It's kind of like rockabilly thrown in a blender; a little punk, blues, some Tom Waits maybe. Definitely interesting stuff.

I've been listening to Cage the Elephant's album a lot lately.

Hollywood Undead's 1st album is probably a close runner-up.

And for some reason, I've been a bit of a Weezer kick this past month, listening to everything from the Blue Album all the way up to Raditude.

Went to see a production of this not long ago and it blew my mind...been obsessing over the music ever since. I know there aren't many other musical theatre geeks around here, but to those of you interested this is essential listening. Complex, powerful music and impeccable storytelling...one of the best shows I've seen/heard in years.
