The "scene" in Ian McKellan's house goes on for about 30 minutes... and all he's doing is talking about the legends and myths and backstories and my GOD something happen.
See, that scene was very interesting for me because I didnot know most of that stuff. I studied art college, and I have seen the Last Supper painting many times, and I did not notice the things that they had pointed out, so it was facinating for me. I loved hearing about the legends, myths, and backstories.

Legacy of Blood

Shit!

Was this movie ever terrible! There's was no gore at all and this has to be one of the most boring movies ever made. Easily ranking amongst the worst films I've ever seen, this stinker actually put me to sleep 3 times before I was able to see the whole film! Horrible acting, no action whatsoever, stupid plot & several glaring editing errors (How can you miss someone walking right in front of the camera?) make this one of the biggest wastes of time ever put on DVD.

Yikes! So now that I've just finished up the 1st 4-Horror Film pack I bought (for dirt cheap from the Sam Goody that was going out of business by me) I can honestly say that even though I got 4 movies on DVD for $2, it was a total waste of $2. Hopefully some of the other 4-packs I got will be better than this piece of crap was! These four movies put me to sleep a total of 6 times!!!

Hell in the Family - 4 DVD pack

The Murder Mansion D-
Night of Bloody Horror D-
It Happened at Nightmare Inn D
Legacy of Blood F

Average grade = D-
Recommendation = Avoid at all costs! (I only paid $2 & I feel ripped off.)

you just watched a ron howard movie based on a piece of convenient fiction by Dan Brown.

you still dont have much more 'real' information than you had before.

finished off "Grizzly" ...then started to watch "The Fog" (remake) and it didnt look that bad...gonna finish it this weekend...I dont like the orginal "The Fog" so I expected the worst....but I actually enjoyed the first 30 min...but had to work early...

Yeti.13 05-24-2006 12:52 PM

ROTLD 4 Necropalis, what a pile of shite! 2/10 thats just for the zombie babies.
Hostel 8/10 I like it and don't mind that nothing really happens in the first half.
Phone Booth 7/10 enjoyable considering it's just about a bloke in a phone booth.

In my opinion, the remake of The Fog is the most disgusting remake ever. It's the ultimate teenie-bopper-PG-13-squealy-little-girls-love-it dumb movie.

It ended like an episode of Charmed or some shit... I couldn't burn it with Nero, but even if I could've I don't think I would've.

Exactly. I barely even felt comfortable with my sexuality coming out of that theater.

Not a problem. On the contrary, the pug-nose I have now just adds to the manliness.

cheebacheeba 05-25-2006 07:38 PM

XMen 3
I preferred SOMETHING about the first 2, but this was acceptable, I liked it...think there's a lot of life left in the franchise yet....wouldn't mind it if Bryan Singer came back to direct again though, this guy that did #3 did an alright job, but I think Singer woulda done better.
The digital prof X made me laugh though, looked like the bottom half of his face was a videogame...and beast kicked ass...

pinkfloyd45769 05-25-2006 08:10 PM

War of the Worlds, i'm glad i waited for this to be released on dvd. I think it sucks.

bwind22 05-25-2006 10:02 PM

Yeah, War of the Worlds did suck. I'm with ya there.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

This is an older comedy set during the arms race with Russia. It's a pretty funny plot consisting of 1 Air Force lieutenant that kinda loses it one day and orders an all out nuclear assault on the Commies. It's pretty funny, but some of it's a bit a dated. I also have never really understood why they chose to name the film after such a minor character in it and I'm not sure I ever will. Anyways, younger actioner junkies will be bored out of their minds with this while older intellectual comedy types probably already rank it among their favorites. It's not for everyone, but it's not bad either.

it was actually a vast improvement on the george pal version ... a film i have no nostalgic love for whatsoever (turned a fine british novel into american christian propoganda)

the only problems with the film i had were :

********SPOILERS**************

- the bullshit ending (the brother should have died - that was incredibly family friendly)

- dakota fannings screams were getting on my nerves

- tom cruise cast as a dock worker ? he's unable to pull that off.

- dakota fannings screams .. i'd have tossed her out of the car .. or at least threatened to if she didnt shut up

- 5' tom cruise getting the better of 6'5 tim robbins ... sure ...

- the deviation from the novel (its not present day america !!!! fuck !!!)

other than those minor details (well, the bullshit ending was pretty major as was the americnization of the novel)

it did have some extremely suspensefull moments, and terrific effects..

not really a horror film but watched Mystic River last night - 8 out of 10

i'd say that is as much of a horror film as anything else ..

it affected me for days after i saw it..

AnnieMiller 05-26-2006 06:57 AM

Probably a cliche considering he got an oscar for it but Sean Penn's performance in it was amazing - though Kevin Bacon equally fantastic.

Right suggestions one and all - have a movie marathon this weekend and want a mix of classic and contemporary - nothing less than an 8 out of 10 score.

One of them is a given - Nosferatu ('22)

penn was strong - so was Robbins in a restrained but effective performance.
I didnt think Bacon had a very strong or pivotal role in the film but he's always solid.

the female roles in this film were also extremely good.

as far as what to watch ?

hmm

for laughs : My Favorite Year (peter otoole)
raising ariizona (nicholas cage)
jay and silent bob strike back

for action and laughs : grosse pointe blank

for sci-fi action : equilibrium Time after Time

for horror : The Hunger, Cemetary Man, The Relic

for Drama : The Apostle, Slingblade

AnnieMiller 05-26-2006 07:51 AM

Good suggestions - Raising Arizona - had completely forgotten about but Cage is superb.

Grosse Pointe Blank - an all time favourite along with The Relic.

Have to say haven't seen My favourite Year, Time after time or The Hunger so they could well be included.

Cos I'm supplying the films I get to avoid sorting out the "refreshments":D
