The Haunting

Hill House.

A major part of The Haunting's timeless classic status is it's premise.

Definitely Hill House (from The Haunting) for me. I love the other two, but that is the best of the three, in my opinion. It is a solidly creepy setting.

Elijah23256 05-15-2014 06:11 AM

It was a tough choice but I am going to go with the Hill house because it was a very creepy mansion and it generally scared me more than house on haunted hill or Notre Dame.

Notre Dame Cathedral - 1 (MichaelMyers)

House on Haunted Hill - 1 (hammerfan)

Hill House scores a monstrous win & moves to the Semi-finals.

Nostromo. (How something so huge could still be so claustrophobic is fantastic!)

_____V_____ 05-15-2014 08:13 AM

Nostromo without a doubt.

The last place you would want to be trapped.

Definitely the Spaceship Nostromo for me. An excellent, dark environment and like the others said, there's nowhere to escape to on that ship. One of the best horror movie settings, in my opinion. I actually just watched Alien (1979) last night.

roshiq 05-15-2014 09:52 AM

Spaceship Nostromo - 5 (totem, _____V_____, newb, ChronoGrl & metternich1815)

The Black Lagoon, Amazon - 1 (hammerfan)

Funeral Home - 0

And Nostromo becomes one of the 4 Semi-finalists.

Looks like Hill House will win so I'll throw a vote to:

Camp Crystal Lake, FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980)

metternich1815 05-15-2014 12:20 PM

I should vote for Camp Crystal Lake, but I am going to have to give it to Hill House. That is one of the best settings in all of horror. Though I would rank Camp Crystal Lake high up too.

2nd Semi-Final

Frankenstein's Castle, UNIVERSAL'S CLASSIC FRANKENSTEIN FILMS

Spaceship Nostromo, ALIEN (1979)

Nostromo.

As classic as Frankie's castle is, the presence of the spaceship looms larger over it's film.

neverending 05-15-2014 11:31 PM

metternich1815 05-16-2014 01:21 AM

That's tough, but I will go with Nostromo.
