Just started The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillippa Gregory. Not bad, a historical novel that centers around Mary Boleyn, who I know next to nothing about, considering her sister Anne's story tends to overshadow hers (hence the title). I did know Henry supposedly had an affair with her before his marriage to Anne. That man sure did get around. |

Hmm, I'm thinking of reading that book "THE SECRET"...my mom just started and can't put it down. I get the impression it's a self-help book of sorts, teaching you positive thinking or something ;) I call bullshit, but I haven't exactly read it yet so I won't jump to conclusions...even though I think I just did ;) Anyone read this? |

Postive thinking?!?! Who needs that? :p |

"Knowledge" eh? That's what they're calling it now-a-days? ;) Ah yes, never hurts to educate oneself I suppose ;) Like I said, I'll need to borrow that. Yeah, I know...I think I'll get much more satisfaction out of laughing at her for reading it, rather than reading it myself. Or maybe I'll just read it b/c really...what else have I got to do? ;) |

Just read Kane Vol. 4: The Thirty-Ninth. Another great installment of Paul Grist’s police procedural, possibly the only straight police story in comics.
Also read The Exterminators Vol.1 : Bug Brothers. A comic about exterminators, genetically mutated cockroaches, and a global conspiracy. A lot better than I’d expected it to be. I'm diving into something new tonight. Could the Master and Margarita, The Talented Mr. Ripley, or some Michael Houellebecq. We'll see. Sam |
Well, I liked The Other Boleyn Girl enough, though it seems to have somewhat less to do with reality than Gregory may pretend...;) The timeline is definitely off on some things, from what I can gather. Either way, an entertaining read so I am reading The Boleyn Inheritance now.

Makes sense. It's not that I felt a kind of disconnect. It just wasn't that good in my opinion. I'm actually looking forward to reading East of Eden, but I have to order it. I can't find it anywhere. |
CELL ---Stephen King

Stiff by Mary Roach
"For two thousand years, cadavers--some willingly, some unwittingly--have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They helped test France's first guillotines, answering the question, "Is the severed head aware of its circumstances, however momentarily?" They helped evaluate the army's new rifles in 1904, standing as targets before researchers' guns. They've ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there, alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet, sundered way." It's really interesting and strangely enough kind of funny. |
Silence of the Lambs.
|
fledgling by Octavia E. Butler- I cannot get past Chapter 8, I think this is borderline pervert shit.
The Yoga Mamas by Katherine Stewart- read this in 3 hours-very funny, I know those women! Fair Peril by Nancy Springer- so far, a very good little fantasy story. |
I Will Rise by Michael Louis Calvillo
An incredible nihilistic joyride of a debut novel. I just started it, but this guy is the real deal. The prose leaps off the page and the story is like nothing I've encountered. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! |
Summer of Night by Dan Simmons
