Ganja & Hess – Gave up after about 20 minutes of watching and 20 minutes of fast forwarding. Most boring vampire movie ever.

The Godfather
The Godfather part II ~ finally, after all this time, I have seen it. And I loved it even more than the first. Excellent.

Across the Universe

What a glorious train-wreck of a motion picture. The camera, choreography and lighting are second to none. Every image, every detail is sumptuous.

Too bad everything else is completely hollow. The story is laughably stupid. There is no character growth or even an enjoyable story arc. The central conceit of the film as pantomime of Beatles songs fails inherently because it's the songs you know by heart all sung and performed by people you couldn't care less about.

I can't say I hate it, because it was sooooo visually striking and at points it almost feels like a parody of a Broadway musical, so I'm torn about a proper rating. But I can say unequivocally that is you want a modern, trippy reinvention of the Beatles catalog, go see Cirque Du Soleil's LOVE, it's fantastic and trippy and authentically beautiful in a way that Across the Universe cannot be.

6/10

The Truman Show.
Watching Michael Clayton tonight... heard very good things about this one... but... watched the trailer and I have to say, very underwhelmed. I'm hoping the strong words were right.

Posted twice... Sorry!
Comp is being stupid.

The Invasion.

Not bad. I'm not going to do a huge review.

Kind of a repeat, but unique enough that I liked it.
The end was way too slow for the majority of the movie.
Instead of an unwind, it was more of a plunge.

Across the Universe

And as a huge Beatles fan, I liked Across the Universe's new sound on an old take, but missed the authentic music.
I had a Beatles binge afterwards.
Good thing I have a bunch of The Beatles vinyl. :p
If not for the story line, which I agree was laughable at most parts, then the cinematography and the like was extraordinary.
The part on the Detroit Riots did really touch me though.
That black boy in Let It Be has an amazing voice!
And the Harmony in Sun King (Because) was amazing.

I say 8/10
