Cold Creek Manor...Not too bad...But, not really 'horror'...More like 'Asshole that kills people when he gets pissed off'

The Devil's Backbone...Really good ghost story...I liked it a lot, even though I had to read it...

Yeti.13 04-13-2006 03:42 AM

Meet the Feebles.
Sleazy version of the muppet show, it's not great but it is entertaining.

Abominus 04-13-2006 04:02 AM

I watched Slither last night and loved it

bwind22 04-13-2006 05:27 AM

King Kong

Alot better than what I thought it'd be. Well acted & directed, good mix of comedy & action and quite a bit more violence than I was expecting out of such a high budget PG-13. Surprisingly, the length didn't bother me all that much as the movie flowed pretty well the whole time without dragging too much.

B+

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Well, I was pretty unfamiliar with this story so I had no real expectations going in to this film. I ended up really liking it. I found it very entertaining and pretty well acted throughout. There was a lot of CGI, all of which is noticeably CGI, but it didn't seem to bother me much. All in all a really good movie, especially for younger kids or family movie night or something.

B+

oh my god ... i thought that was one of the worst movies i'd ever seen ..

the snake scene had me laughing my ass off ..

Dennis Quaid must owe someone a lot of money to allow himself to have been discraced onscreen like that..

and his drunk scene ? jesus christ he looked like Steve Martin at the end of 'The Jerk'

hellfire1 04-13-2006 05:46 AM

just finished watching "made". it's unbelievable how you like vince vaughn's character because he's such a loyal friend, but at the same time, all you want to do is bash his head in for being such a pain in the ass. hehe

edited cuz i'm a typo freak.

very sweet ending (sweet in the old sense.. not the Cartman sense)

yeah ,. you pretty much wanted to kill vaughn all through that one .. but he's funny :)

Even though I agree with those two statements...I still thought it was okay...It was worth watching at least once:)

urgeok 04-13-2006 08:24 AM

oh .. its worth watching ..

its one of the few movies in the last 20 years that falls into the 'its so bad it's good' category

there used to be more of those back in the day - before video...

now there are mostly 'its so bad it's bad' films

but Cold Creek Manor ..

its a rarity ... there should be drinking games invented for it.

My favorite part is the motorcycle secen and Vince complaining afterwards.

Good movie- very good...but it doesn't even TOUCH Swingers.

hellfire1 04-13-2006 10:23 AM

"Fucking embarrassing - gotta ride around town on a motorcycle with a guy who doesnt have a fucking shirt on."

love that part. he did really look like the guy's bitch, too. hehe it was funny, but nowhere as hilarious as swingers, fo' sho.

up next : dodgeball with the commentary. i feel like watching some more vince.

It was great! :p I'm going to watch Wolf Creek sometime this weekend, so hopefully that'll save my sorry ass!

The_Return 04-13-2006 05:42 PM

Is tomorrow a hoilday for you guys? We get a crazy long weekend, not sure if it's the same south of the border. Anyway, I plan to watch a shitload of flicks, I have nothing better to do.

mothermold 04-13-2006 08:16 PM

The Cat O'Nine Tails.

Great movie, but ever since that episode of Family Guy with Peter and Carl Muldon doing cocain I've never veiwed this movie the same way again....dumb I know.

"Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)- 0/5"
Really?? I honestly thought it was one of the better comedies to come out recently. The whole Sonny and Cher stick 'em up was bloody hillarious.

Long weekend = marathon.
House of the Dead
Return of the Living Dead
Audition
A Tale of Two Sisters
Calvaire
Night/Day Watch (both)
Basic Instinct

Not really sure yet, those are the films I have on my backburner so far.

Evil Dead 2

Holy CRAP this movie made me laugh so hard I almost ran out of air! The scene when EVERYTHING is laughing at him, including the furniture, i fell off the bed!

Made is great. I hold it in just about the same extremely high regard as Swingers. Both just really solid, funny ass movies & Vince steals the show in both of em...

My 2 favorites parts (also the big black guy with no shirt motorcycle ride) are listed below.... Those quotes could be off a bit because it's been about a year since I saw it last...

"What's with the whip? What, do ya got a fuckin horse outside?"

"So you're the Red Dragon, huh? Where's the Red Dragon's lair?"

Beyond Re-Animator:

Pretty cool flick that pales in comparision to the other two entries especially effects wise. But its worth watching just for the end credits haha (I won't spoil them for you but its some funny shit!)

A Nightmare on Elmstreet 4

Oh dear, oh dear....What a dodgy film. Good for a laugh though.

The Monster Walks

I normally love these cheesy old "haunted house" flicks, but this has got to be one of the worst. Actors in films like this are never good, but I dont think Ive even seen it this bad. On top of that, most of the lines are completly laughable. This was in fact the first "talkie" that the writer ever made, and good Lord it shows. As obvious as it was, I think the ending was the film's high point. The maniac's expression on Mischa Auer's face was very, very convincing. Overall though, this is one bad film.

4/10

PS - On an interesting and unrelated side note, one of the paintings that can be seen briefly in one scene is hanging on a wall in my house. I thought that was very cool to see.

Monster from a Prehistoric Planet

The old Godzilla movies are by no means a great example of cinema, and this late-60's ripoff is even worse. The story is tired and overused, about a group of scientists and reporters that bring a baby monster back to Japan, and the parents arrive to wreak havoc. Perhaps a subtitled version may have been better, but the dubbing on this version was hilarious. Some of the lines, especially those by "the Publisher" were completly off-track from the facial expressions, which provided plenty of laughs. The monsters looked typical for the era, which is a kinder way of saying that they looked awful. The inevitable destruction of Tokyo seemed to drag on forever, to the point where I found myself fast forwarding through it. Bottom line...avoid it.

3/10

Found part 4 to be not as good part 3..but a hell of alot better than those dreadful sequels to come afterwards *cough* Dream Child & Freddy's dead *cough*

But I'd give part 4 a 5.5/10 ;)

Bunman 04-14-2006 09:53 AM

The only reason I put it on is because on the dvd I have there is 2 music videos and one of them has Freddy rapping with these fat black guys - Its hilarious! I ended up just watching the film after.

I totally agree with you though - Number 3 is alot better than this one. The just go down hill after that. If they ever made another Nightmare film then they need to take out the over the top joking that freddy does and concerntrate on the actual horror...like the first one.

Freddy just isn't scary - He is like the comedian of movie killers.

Thats what I like about him. The plot of the series is pretty absurd to begin with, and his comedy just fits so well.

Bunman 04-14-2006 10:04 AM

True, but I would like to see him being abit more scary again. Don't get me wrong, I do like freddy but I'd like to see him cut down on the jokes and get back to basics.

I think it's just as good as the first two, but in its own way....It has a different sorta 'feel' to it ...I love it :)
