This is to me one of the best ghost stories ever made.

I just simply love this film.

As a matter of fact I think that I will go in and watch it after supper!

The last classic horror movie I watched this week was the eerie Val Lewton thriller, I Walked With A Zombie.

You have got GREAT taste! Nice to meet a kindred spirit.
I sat up late watching "The Bride of Frankenstein" last night. Such a wickedly stylish film.

That is a great movie. Elsa Lanchester became legendary just for that one role alone.

Last classic I watched was Spooks Run Wild. Not one of Bela's greatest efforts I am afraid. Poor guy looks a bit out of sorts in this one.

1. Dracula (1931) w/ Lugosi
2. Son Of Dracula w/ lon Chaney jr
3 The Ghost Breakers w/ Bob Hope
4. Frankenstein meets The Wolf Man w/Chaney jr & Lugosi

Okay, so this list was posted three years ago -- I totally don't care. I am SO watching Ghost Breakers and Son of Dracula for Halloween!

Thank you.

I also like The Bride Of Frankenstein. I just got a signed photo of Elsa Lanchester as "The Bride". Got it from a reliable dealer since authentic signatures of Lanchester in this character are rare!

Well, after watching all of these movies I will now be going to slumber in my coffin in which I will pull the covers over my head!

It was on TCM yesterday.

The Devil Rides Out.

Role reversal of sorts for Chris Lee, and excellent support by the rest, particularly Charles Gray. A solid Hammer entertainer.

Dracula (1931)

jenna26 10-13-2007 09:53 AM

Strait-Jacket ~ would have been kind of average, except for Joan Crawford's absolutely riveting performance. I didn't care for the ending all that much.

13 Ghosts ~I love this movie, good campy fun.

Carnival of Souls <3

What I Just Watched

I watched Night of the Living Dead the other day. Thanks to Internet Archives I put it on my iPod and have been showing it to all of my Horror movie Illiterate friends who think that SawIIIis the best horror movie ever.

The Devil Doll. Great movie.

Black Sabbath. One of the best ever made. Period.

The Old Dark House

Campy fun, but not Whale's best work.

The_Raven 10-18-2007 10:58 AM

Haha yeah I remember that one. It was great, and Karloff did a swell job, minus dialogues. It does not compare to Bride of Frankenstein though. Easily Whale's best work.

phantomstranger 10-18-2007 06:59 PM

"Son Of Dracula"
-Lon Chaney jr

The_Raven 10-19-2007 12:52 AM

The Haunted Palace.

One of the lesser known Vincent Price ones, based on a Lovecraftian story. Corman had done a wonderful job with maintaining the chilling gothic atmosphere throughout this movie. A smugly hidden gem, I dare say.

Edgar

The_Raven 10-19-2007 11:43 AM

20 Million Miles To Earth. Good campy entertainment. Particularly love that creature versus elephant showdown.

Edgar

The_Raven 10-20-2007 05:14 AM

The Ghost of Frankenstein. Not as creepy as some of the others. Boasts of a good lineup of stars, Lugosi, Chaney, Atwill, Hardwicke, Ankers etc. etc.

Edgar

jenna26 10-20-2007 08:18 AM

Berserk ~ slow and predictable. But it started out great.

The Vault of Horror 10-20-2007 12:10 PM

The Mummy's Tomb. Highly underrated. The second in Universal's "Kharis" series, but probably even better than the first one, The Mummy's Hand.

missmacabre 10-21-2007 01:02 PM

The Conquerer Worm

phantomstranger 10-21-2007 01:10 PM

The Birds
Dial M For Murder
Psycho

The Devil Doll ~ glad I finally caught this one, great fun and the special effects were pretty damn impressive for the time. Loved it.
