This is the first place that you are AWARE that you've 'met someone who flashes underage girls' ;)

They're all over the 'net...And everywhere else...We just don't always know who they are

And I do urge EVERYONE to be careful who they speak to on the phone, and on messengers, and NEVER give out personal information to a stranger (however, I'm pretty sure that these kids already know that)...But, you can meet these same people in your neighborhoods...

I talk (on the phone, in real life, and on messengers) to MANY people from this forum, on a regular basis...But, it doesn't ever get 'creepy'

It's true, we must be 'vigilant', we must be aware...But, we don't have to be paranoid

Have you never met a child molester in real life? Because if you haven't, consider yourself VERY lucky, they seem to be everywhere. I unfortunately am not that lucky.
I am not disagreeing with you at all, yes, please be vigilant and yes, it is easier to be a perv online in some ways. But people have to be careful everywhere especially online.

Seriously, yes, here is one of the wonderful people I have met online. A good friend, a good person. And she wouldn't be in my life if not for this blasted machine. You just have to know how to watch out for yourself, take care of yourself, and know the danger. I think many people, kids and adults, don't really think, they are far too trusting. They know what is in their heart, and seem to automatically believe that is how most people are. And that just isn't true. As long as you are aware, cautious, (yes, please watch for those red flags) you should be okay. :)

Awww, you're a doll :) Exactly, I'm just as close to you as I am to people I've known my whole life...I would've missed out on alot had I never joined this forum. Yeah, and I also think alot of people go on the Internet b/c of loneliness...and when you're lonely, and somebody starts paying attention to you, telling you what you wanna hear...it's very easy to get caught up in, and dismiss any doubts you may have. I'm glad this thread was started...glad everything was brought into the open. I think it's good to have these discussions, and let people know they aren't the only ones something like this has happened to...brings awareness to the matter.

i have never met a child molester and i really don't think that makes me unusual. for most people it only happens online. we gotta stop talking about this shit. new people reading this are gonna think its a sex club in here. when is this thread closing? honestly, i genuinely think this thread is doing more damage than good.

Nobody said you were unusual..just said you were LUCKY you hadn't met one...and also, you might've met one...just not known it. And honestly, I don't think for most people it only happens on-line. I know more than my share of people who were molested, and 90% of the time it was by a relative or close friend of theirs...not by somebody they met on the 'net. And if people mistake a thread that's trying to educate people about the dangers of internet predators for a sex club...then they're mind probably isn't in the right place to begin with ;)

I don't agree. I think this is a very good thread and anyone new reading it will know that at least here we are very aware of the online pervs, and are no longer afraid to talk about it, so hopefully they will feel safer here. And no, that doesn't open the door for more pervs to come here and pretend they're safe and innocent, cuz WE WILL TELL ON YOU now and forever.

Yeah, I think it lets people know that's not something that will be tolerated around here...and lets new members know that the people running/moderating the boards are concerned and WANT to know about this type of behavior...so that the forum can be used for what it was intended...you know, to make fun of each other, point fingers, get annoyed, and talk about horror once in a while ;)

jenna26 05-05-2007 05:35 PM

No, I don't agree that for most people it happens online; I know far too many people that have been molested or raped by someone they did not meet online.
Also how anyone could mistake this forum for a sex club because something happened here and there is a discussion of the events is beyond me. I would much rather there be a discussion and some action taken than have it swept under the rug as if it never happened. If someone doesn't WANT to discuss it, they do not have to, if someone chooses to ignore it, that is their choice. People have to know if something of this nature happens, it should be reported. People that commit these kinds of acts should be stopped.

i didn't mean the sex club thing literally. all i'm saying is that it isn't good for the biggest thread in the main area of our site to be banging on about our problems with pervs. lets get on with the business of horror and let the mods do their job. lets not turn into a site full of armchair mods. i await the official action re:this thread with baited breath

Hey, the only reason I came back in the thread was to stress that not all the pervs find you online, in forums like this. And to advise caution in all aspects of your life, but at the same time, like BR said, lets not be paranoid. I have no problem with moving on, and the thread being closed. BUT if other people feel the need to continue the discussion, if they see merit in that, that is up to them, I am certainly not going to tell them that is the wrong way to go about it.
