I'd put Jason and Michael Myers in the slasher bit (using my own criteria) in that 'resilience to injury' can include coming back from the dead, it's a very flexible categorising system in my house :D

Mr Krueger however has extending arms, kids screaming faces in his chest and appears in dreams.

I find the whole idea of a large strong man, albeit seemingly lumbering and slow - but able to catch up with you nonetheless (MM, JV) quite unnerving.

Should keep those knitting needles out whenever I babysit, eh?

Who gives a shit what it is - It's a good film, you don't need to know the difference between horror and slasher movies to know whether they are good or not - I'm just wondering what point TrueFan was trying to make with this thread :confused:

I'm just amazed at what a pro-Dog Soldiers battalion exists on this board. About three years ago when i first saw the film i couldn't find anyone who'd even heard of it, and now people are being banned over comments related to the movie. (well, really they were banned for other reasons as well) It's kind of creepy, and good that this film is becoming a cult classic (and i do believe it is).

It would have been an overt classic like aliens had it actually recieved a release in America

Dog soldiers was a solid movie .. I enjoyed it a lot. A buddy of mine showed up at my house one night with Dog Soldiers, Ginger Snaps and Boondock Saints (I had not seen any of these yet). Needless to say this was one of the better evenings in my life. I own all three now. I personally would not call Dog Soldiers a slasher film.. more of a creature feature.
