its been tryed, the night we were suposed to watch 28 days later i "accidentley" put the thing in 28 days later cover... by the time the norwegians were dead i found myself being booed out to my car to get 28 days later... the whole plot was kinda ruined for me though, i could understand exactley what those guys were saying.

Oh yeah, you're from that area. Hahaha. I don't suppose you could translate what the dialogue actually is in the beginning of the film when they're chasing the dog.

moonsorrow 10-23-2003 05:11 PM

proudley from the guitarshaped country...why do you think id start a metal heads thread?
you probabley allready knew this but they were basicley saying "its not a dog, its a thing imitating your dog" in manny diffrent ways...
haha! am i the only one who thinks kurt russel looked dashing in his shades and hat?

avenger00soul 10-23-2003 05:13 PM

Kurt Russell is the man, even in ridiculous shades and hat. Man, he and Carpenter need to get together again for another movie.

Make it so Number 1.

moonsorrow 10-23-2003 05:17 PM

he is the king with that hat, and those shades! i must have seen the movie about 900 times and i still laugh when he puts em on.

If you're referring to The Woods, it's the new film from Lucky Mckee. I'm fuzzy on the details, but The Chin stars as the lead girl's dad. The film is about an all girls' school in the middle of the woods. That's all I know.

moonsorrow 10-23-2003 05:21 PM

i cant remember the name, but im pretty sure its not that... ah well, time will tell.

He's already shot most of the movie and they go ahead and replace him with someone else to do reshoots. Doesn't sound good to me.
Okay, just heard more. Apparently they've hired Renny Harlin (Cutthroat Island...ugh) to take the director's chair and they've put in another 8 million!!!

slasher 10-28-2003 11:56 AM

I was just wondering if you guys who were talking about The Thing had ever seen the original version. I do not know the year it was made I will try to find out but it is pretty old and in black and white but still quite good for the time the alien isn't great but for the time period it is probably excellent.

THE EXORCIST III is the *true* sequel to the original EXORCIST. Not only is it based on William Peter Blatty's novel LEGION -- the sequel to his novel THE EXORCIST -- it was also *directed* by the author.

One of the few films that I will not watch alone late at night. Positively chilling. I have yet to recommend it to anyone who's not come away from it severely disturbed.

I bought this at Disc Jockey (5 bucks!!!) and plan on watching it tonight. I'll let you know what I think.

MichaelMyers 10-31-2003 03:26 PM

I guess I'm in the majority when I say "The Exorcist". "The Omen" and "The Shining" are up there.

vera-icon 10-31-2003 04:48 PM

i could give a list of scary movies or creepy scenes but they've probably been listed already lol
there is one movie that creeps me out, technically it's not really a horror film... maybe it's because i've only seen it a couple times but, Jacob's Ladder gave me the willies. LOL
anybody know what i mean?

Jacob's Ladder did have a couple of "creep-out" moments.

mictlan 11-01-2003 06:48 AM

the scariest flick...

hi,

i'm a newbie, lifelong horror junkie.

lots of films have scared me over the years. when i was a kid i was badly scared by
-salem's lot
-invasion of the body snatchers (the one with donald sutherland)
-the shining
-carpenter's the thing
-phantasm

my favorite as a teenager was the texas chainsaw massacre, and may still be #1.

the two films that have scared me within the last five years or so are
-dark water (honogurai, the post-ring koji suzuki and hideo nakata film)
-the blair witch project

dmihatmttl 11-01-2003 08:04 AM

Hi

Nice to "meet" you, mictlan. Some fantastic choices there -- THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and John Carpenter's THE THING are my two favorite horror films of all time, and of I love PHANTASM. Likewise, the '78 version of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS was one of the first movies to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid, so it's a favorite now too. :)

Nice to see someone else who dug THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. I watched it again last night for the first time in a couple years, and it was still very effective. Damn scary movie . . . .

Dying to see DARK WATER. I hear it's great. I'm a big fan of Asian horror movies, and hopefully (if Best Buy has it) will be picking up THE EYE later on today. Can't wait . . . .

Anyway, welcome to the boards. Rock on.

Zamual 11-06-2003 12:57 AM

When I was but a small boy only two movies creeped me out.

Monkey Shines I honestly dont even remember what this movie is about, just that it scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

IT This movie gave me so many nightmares. I still have dreams about it a lot, but sadly not scary ones.

For some reason Stephen Kind's The Langolers creeped me out a bit too.

AUSTIN316426808 11-06-2003 03:32 AM

The Exorcist kinda spooks me but that's about it.

Damn Heathen 03-24-2015 04:00 AM

One Dark Night scared me pooless.

JL is so goddamn boring, not to mention utterly obvious. Can't for the life of me understand its cult status.

horcrux2007 03-24-2015 04:15 AM

The Descent, REC, Insidious, The Exorcist, The Shining, Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, The Conjuring, parts of VHS, Saw, The Tunnel, and Inside are movies that scared me a lot when I watched them.

Damn Heathen 03-25-2015 04:00 AM

One Dark Night, with Meg Tilly really got me. Still does.

I forgot to say The Babadook and The Strangers, and I'd add It Follows.

Last thing: when I watched these movies, I felt so uncomfortable that I almost stopped watching them. I guess it's a little different than "scary", but they sure as hell left an impact on me.
