3 cool finds for me this morning:

C.h.u.d.
House 2
The Car

I'll be busy this afternoon....:D

ChronoGrl 11-30-2011 07:35 AM

hahahaha - Nothing like cheesy horror when you're recovering, right?

How are you feeling, by the way? Has physical therapy started yet?

Speaking of cheesy horror, Carpenter's The Ward is on Instant - It's not great, but where it's bad, it's actually pretty amusing. Oh, and Amber Heard and Lyndsy Fonseca are both in it (schwing!!!!!)

Not sure if I posted this, but Big Lebowski is on there as well. :D

OH! OH! And I think I forgot to mention... Arrested Development is available too!!!

Sistinas666 11-30-2011 07:50 AM

I'm feeling much better, thank you for asking. I am actually no longer in need of pain meds, I still ache but its not bad enough that I need to be in a daze. The physical therapy? I should have started 2 weeks ago but i've put it off. I know thats not the right thing to do but with all the bills flooding in i'm kind of procrastinating with the thought of another. Next week is when I go see my doc again and i'm supposed to be able to put weight on it again.

I flippn love Arrested Development btw!!!! Thanks for the heads up!!!!:)

fortunato 11-30-2011 11:04 AM

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover is on Netflix Instant, which is an amazing film. Warning, though: It has some rough content.

Glad you're feeling better!!

I hear you on the bill. :( Physical Therapy for me was $35/visit and that was AFTER what my insurance would pay... And they wanted me to go twice a week. UGH.

I know you've probably heard this, but PT is important so that you heal properly and blah blah blah... Don't want to nag, but you know what I'm getting at. ;)

Can you go back to work yet? I forgot what leg it was for you - For me it was my right one so I couldn't drive, but at least I could work from home...

Enjoy Arrested Development!! And I'm not sure if you've seen the news, but they'll be posting NEW EPISODES on Netflix only in 2013, so I'm pretty psyched about that. :D

Elvis_Christ 12-01-2011 01:30 PM

Vamp is great. It never really gets the recognition it deserves. Guess it's release falling in-between Fright Night and The Lost Boys kinda stole it's thunder. Great fun anyway.

I quite like Dead Heat too but it might be a bit to dated and low budget for some of you guys.

Sistinas666 12-03-2011 02:27 AM

Thank you so much for the heads up on Vamp and Return To Horror High.

Chrono, I pay little attention to the news as I find it 90% depressing. Are these new, unaired episodes? Is this what became of the fabled movie?

Brand-spanking new!

I think it's a good move for Netflix - They will own the rights to the new episodes, so if you want to see Arrested Development you'd have to watch it on Netflix.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/21/ar...velopment.html

Looks like the movie is in the works - I think they are planning to air the new episodes first and then the movie. Unfortunately we'll have to wait until 2013, but, hey, I'm just glad that it's for real coming back. :D

I just added Knife in the Water, Kuroneko and Don't Go in the Woods Alone to my queue. I've got Girly at home, an exploitation film from 1970 directed by Freddie Francis. I'm looking forward to watching it, as Francis rarely lets me down.

Dom Coccaro 12-04-2011 01:37 PM

A-ha! My mistake. In that case, I recently added Blade of the Ripper, The Resurrected and Eternal Evil of Asia to my queue.

are_you_sad 12-05-2011 09:23 AM

I thought Dark Corners was a nice little scarefest. The storyline is kind of wack but the images in the movie are quite creepy.

It is streaming on Netflix as we speak.

newb 12-05-2011 04:30 PM

If you're in a really goofy mood

ChronoGrl 12-06-2011 04:38 AM

^^ Did you actually watch it? What did you think? Glad to see if on Netflix Instant because I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay for it on Comcast...

...

The antithesis of goofy, Black Death (2010) is available on Instant...

I saw Girly as 'Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny & Girly' and its an excellent, twisted movie..Very under rated.

The nightmare/dream sequences in the film are actually quite terrifying.

I don't think Birch does a horrible job of acting in the movie, although I've heard otherwise from other people.

It's just a very nice, creepy film. Some of the images are intense.

I think I was in the wrong mood when I saw it - It was a dreary grey Sunday and I decided to watch this bleak tale of corruption - No one was likeable, themes of RELIGION IS EVIL EVEN PAGAN RELIGION BECAUSE ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY were really overwrought and hit you over the head with it. It was dark, bleak, and ultimately unhappy, which is how I felt at the end of it. I don't think it was a bad movie, in fact, it was probably a good movie (good acting, great production value, etc.), it just didn't really do anything for me except make me cranky. The boyfriend liked it, and I guess I can see why other people do too, but I just wasn't in the mood.

Have you seen it? Your thoughts?

ChronoGrl 12-09-2011 06:16 AM

Really looking forward to seeing this, based on J's rec - It's on Instant!!

Ho-lee cow.
This is one of the craziest film experiences I've had in some time. A fairly tongue-in-cheek allegory of extremes in Franco's Spain, it's told through the story of a twisted love triangle between a sad clown, a happy clown, and a beautiful trapeze artist that is at once completely absorbing, engrossing. The film just flies by.
It reminds me a bit of The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover, too, in that it represents these extremes with its production. In the real sense of the word, this film completely absurd. Every frame is loaded with color and movement, the darkest humor, and (sometimes goofy) extravagant violence. It is that rare, spot-on blend of eye-rolling pulp and art-house spectacle. And it's held all together with a clear sincerity. The ideas and inspirations behind the film are strong. Performances are great, the cinematography is a marvel. Even without its commentary, The Last Circus is an unbelievable work.
However, it does suffer at times from some conspicuous CGI, but for me at least, it was easy to forgive.
Certainly recommended for Chrono, Elvis, Ferox, V, Roshiq (although you've probably already seen it), and anyone with an adventuresome cinematic spirit.

Ah, yeah. It wasn't too high on my want-to-see list, anyway. I still haven't watched it, and I'll likely put it even further back on my queue.

Haha I watched that movie every day for about a year when I was 9 or 10.

Pretty sure I could quote it word for word :D

Robert W 12-09-2011 02:21 PM

If you're into Eurocrime, Netflix has The Boss (Henry Silva at his homicidal best!), Live Like A Cop, Die Like A Man, and Kidnap up atm.

Elvis_Christ 12-09-2011 02:27 PM

I need to watch more Eurocrime stuff. Saw Revolver awhile back and enjoyed it. Might go have a binge on it over the holidays. Henry Silva always tears it up as a villain been a big fan since I saw him in Code Of Silence.

If you're a Henry Silva fan than do yourself a favor and watch The Boss. Definitely his must bloodthirsty performance.
