1-Paranormal Activity(Just stupid stuff, that shouldn't of made it past youtube)
2-Paranormal Activity 2(Can't believe they made a sequel)
3-Hidden(Wasn't what i expected from reviews)
4-Tokyo Zombie(Liked it, but wasn't as cool as internet said)
5-Halloween 2(remake)(Compared to the orig, this was crap on a stick)
6-The Craft(I just hate, but was liked)
7-The Crazies(remake)(Wasn't that great, I expected more from a classic)
8-EraserHead(just boring and was told was cool)
9-Survival of the Dead(I couldn't wait to see, but major disappointment)
10-Devils Rejects(loved 1000, but this was over-ramped about out)

I actually liked The Crazies remake better then the original. I couldnt stand the drumbeat every time time the military was on camera. I agree with you on the rest except i loved Devil's Rejects and liked Paranormal Activity.

SaltSlasher 08-02-2011 11:26 PM

Even though I hate paranormal activity. I love Quaritine and Rec, but I don't like clover field that much, and didn't really like the fourth kind, it seemed like they were trying to hard to make you believe everything, which made me feel like it was more fake, cause if it were real they wouldn't need to try and persuade me.

I am more of a 80's serial killer/Zombie/Alien type of guy, anything that involves someone slashing up the place that is human sized including Gorgons.

leezuki 08-03-2011 01:39 PM

i liked the crazies remake alot more than the original, well i did not like the original at all really.

johann 08-07-2011 01:55 PM

I really hated the remake of Halloween, especially Halloween 2. Stupidest piece of trite attempt at a movie I have ever seen. I would go as far to say Halloween 2 (the rob zombie one) might be the worst movie I have ever seen in my life.

Boy do i agree with you there. I really hated H2. I would definitely put it in a list of worst movies i've ever seen.

johann 08-07-2011 02:04 PM

at least with the first Halloween he did, I wasn't a fan but I got what he was going for, when he did H2.... I'll just say when I saw How Myers got loose I was pretty much done at that point, and the rest was downhill

Yeah i appreciated what he tried to do with the first one but he put way too much of his own style into the second one. None of the characters were the same anymore. That would've been fine but it didnt even connect with the first one he did so it was just stupid.

living_dead_guy 08-08-2011 08:43 PM

The Halloween remakes were pretty bad, but I thought The Crazies remake was pretty good.

leezuki 08-09-2011 01:12 PM

halloween should be burried and left alone now, all i have to say with that.
i supose we are going to have moe of nightmare on elm st to come now as well

I don't know how you make a Nightmare movie without Robert Englund. I feel the same about the remake of Evil Dead thats coming out, how Bruce Campbell is not in it as Ash its sacrilegious

Even though i dont like remakes there really is no point in keeping the same cast. The whole point of remakes is to do the movie differently while also paying homage to the original. If you just keep the same people, then you're essentially just making the same movie. The trick is to cast someone who can do justice to the role and unfortunately that's where a lot of horror movies and really any movie being remade that has a stong character in the original falls short. Everyone is going to be upset by the casting and thats going to negatively affect the movie. That's why unless you're going to do a remake right, you just shouldnt do it.

Agreed, and thats why for the most part I am against all the remakes coming out. In the case of Freddy and Ash those characters are so iconic to their respective franchises, and to me both are in direct relation to what made those characters so memorable. Neither should be remade they were both done right the first time.

I agree and its a big reason why i hate remakes. I was really upset when i heard they were remaking Nightmare but i actually like Jackie Earl Haley and i wanted to see what he could do. I thought he was interesting but as a whole i hated it. There needs to be more good original horror movies with strong characters and villains instead of just countless remake after remake.

The problem with most the remakes coming out is they are remaking movies that were done right the first time. Movies like Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A nightmare on elm street were great the way were. The only remake I have liked that comes to mind was Dawn of the Dead, and to your point Snyder did it right he took a concept of zombies in a mall and gave his own take on it.

Yeah the Dawn of The Dead remake was great. The only other recent one i can think of is The Crazies.

johann 08-09-2011 09:04 PM

Haven't gotten around to watching the remake of the craziness yet

Oh see when you said buried, it made it sound like you hated all of them and that no one should ever mention them or show them ever again. I loved the first one but i thought the others were all interesting in their own way except the remakes and Resurrection. That never should've been made.

paws the great 08-27-2011 07:34 PM

I know my list is going to very unpopular, but that's okay.

Halloween (1978)

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Dawn of the Dead (1978)

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

The Blair Witch Project

Paranormal Activity

Black Christmas (1974)

I do understand the impact these movies had on the horror genre. And I'm glad most of them were made. I just don't like them at all!

Well i agree with you on Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity but the others i'm shocked. Although there's always gonna be someone who doesnt like a movie everyone else loves. Is there any specific reason you didnt like them or did you just generally not enjoy them?

aahh i love the shining, but i agree with bram stokers dracula, i will prob get hated for saying that, i actualy loved interveiw with a vampire better.

The Villain 08-29-2011 03:21 PM

Bram Stoker's Dracula is a little pretentious. I liked it because of Gary Oldman but i much prefer Nosferatu (My favorite), The Bela Lugosi version and of course the Christopher Lee Hammer ones much better then it.

And there's also the version with Frank Langella. Another of my favorite versions.

I completely agree with these especially Creep on paper it should have been a great film but it just didnt work on any level. I believe that Hatchet 2 was a huge step up from the original though.

William Seabrook 08-30-2011 01:26 PM

Suspira. It wasn't that I hated it, it's just that'd heard such good things about it I was expecting a lot more out of it.

Fearonsarms 08-30-2011 02:21 PM

Maybe you would like the two followups of Argento's three mothers trilogy-Inferno (1980) and Mother Of Tears (2007).

William Seabrook 08-30-2011 02:53 PM

I'll have to try them. I've seen other more recent movies by him and really liked them.

My fave Argento films are Inferno, Tenebrae, Deep Red, The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, Cat O Nine Tails, Four Flies On Grey Velvet, Phenomena, Terror At The Opera, The Stendhal Syndrome and Sleepless. I think you can't go wrong with any of them-avoid at all costs his version of Phantom At The Opera and The Wax Mask
