I don't know, you got Cujo, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The House on Sorority Row and The Dead Zone. Those are good.

I went with Jaws because the only two I own from that year are jaws and Halloween III. I liked jaws more.

The Villain 08-07-2011 02:05 PM

Halloween 3 is terrible. Why do you own that?

I've always liked collecting movies, I own all the halloween movies (except the rob zombie ones). I cant just buy Halloween 1 & 2, once I but 1 movie in the series I have to have them all, same goes with the friday the 13th, romero dead, freddy, and even james bond movies.

leezuki 08-07-2011 02:19 PM

i know what u mean,but h 3 is a total different movie.

I get that. I collect movies too and if i have an incomplete series it just feels weird. I dont buy other movies for that sake though. I just deal with it.

TheWickerFan 08-07-2011 03:55 PM

I really enjoyed Halloween 3. I thought it was great fun. Not a masterpiece by any means, but really entertaining.

1983 really wasn't a great year, but it also had Videodrome, Christine, Sleepaway Camp, and Of Unknown Origin.

The Villain 08-07-2011 03:58 PM

I think i compare it to the first Halloween too much which i shouldn't considering it had nothing to do with it. I'd probably be able to enjoy it if i could learn to separate it.

I think a lot of people do that which is why it gets clobbered as much as it does.

Someone here probably knows the story, but I remember hearing that John Carpenter originally intended to make the Halloween movies as stand alone, Halloween themed stories.

I remember hearing about that too. I guess Michael Myers was just too popular.

leezuki 08-08-2011 01:09 PM

i never knew john carpenter was going to do that, i think that would have been interesting.

siorai 08-08-2011 02:59 PM

1972: The Last House on the Left

SodaGirl 08-08-2011 10:45 PM

1983 for me as well, Sleepaway Camp is by far my favorite of the ones I've seen.

Elvis_Christ 08-08-2011 11:12 PM

Halloween III fucking rules. The original concept for the series was really interesting but the public just wanted the same old bullshit all over again...

Ahhhh not exactly horror but whatever:

johann 08-09-2011 04:27 PM

1989

Pet Sematery
That's the only horror film I've seen, I think, from 1989.

Keep in mind that whilst horror had a boom period in the 80's, that cooled in the 90's.

I agree that the 90s were a bit hit and miss but the rot hadn't set in then.
There was still The Woman In Black, Society, The Church, Tetsuo, Warlock, The Burbs and Santa Sangre that were great in 1989.

wizard of gore 12-17-2011 04:30 PM

Not that many good ones, Aliens is probably the winner out of that group.

oraya22 01-30-2012 10:38 PM

I was born in 1987, in my opinion the best horror movies of that year and I've seen are:
hellraiser
evil dead 2
the video dead
