high priest shut the fuck up with ur high priest wise bull.....NOLD remake was a great film.....they needed to change the ending it was dull so they fixed it....to make the girl the only suvivor and ben die a zombie which was sweet
|
I still like the remake. But I just didn't like that Ben turned into a zombie.
Although, the way he died in the original did kind of blow. |
Whatever
I won'y shut up!!
Are you the owner or the MOD here??? I don't think so!! I'll say whatever I fucking feel like saying! I have just as much of a right to post here as you do, so FUCK off!! HIGH PRIEST WISE |

whaever
I like it in black and white or the other.
I say the bloodier the better! HIGH PRIEST WISE |
The remake was OK. I remember reading that Savini wanted to make the gore as accurate as possible, which explains details like autopsy scars on chests.
It seems like everything was lit too well in the remake... I like shadows in my horror films. It also had kind of a made-for-TV vibe. The lighting or the acting? Probably both. I did like Barabara being remade as a tough woman. Did you notice that when Basement Daughter Zombie kills her mother the blood spurts onto a trowel? That's what she killed her mother with in the first one. The original blew the remake away... don't forget what a shock it was for people to see that film in the '60s. There were also political undertones revolving around Ben and Harry that were lost or ignored in the new one. |
I like both the original and the remake... Both IMO were made brilliantly
|
Zombies cool
I just think Zombie movies are so cool!
I wish they still made them!! HIGH PRIEST WISE |
28 Days?
Dawn of the Dead? House of the Dead? Resident Evil? Shaun of the Dead? I'm not going to argue the relative merits or lack thereof of those four movies, but they are zombie movies. |
I guess you're right but the kind of movies I meant was the ones when they go after brains!

I wasn't really too impressed by either version, honestly. I prefer the older merely because the ending was such a shock and a disappointment. After everything that he lived through, it ended the way it did.
I liked the ending of the newer because it showed what humans probably would do. It was depressing, but true. |
The above posts are a great commentary on the new horror movie. Give me more gore! But to this old horror hound, NotLD '68 is THE horror movie of the millenium. You have to put it in context. It was 1968 for chrissakes. This movie broke new ground in the horror experience. The black and white filming, used because of finances according to GAR, made this film have it's creepy feel. The darkness and shadows just made that little farmhouse more lonely. And a black man the only one to survive, and then be cut down? What a commentary.
|
I agree.
I love gore!! More gore the better!! HIGH PRIEST WISE |
Romrero has often said that each of the dead movies tend to reflect the era ot was made in.
Racial issues in the 60's Beginning of rampant commercialism in the 70's ( The mall and how people n a mall tend to act like zombies, singleminded on their goal) And the paranoia of the Cold War in the 80's And I believe that this is true also of the remake, though I believe that romero and Savini were ahead of the times a bit with the resurrgence of racial tensions and the dawning of the tough females and an outcry of women role models. Interesting to see if that holds true to the remake since neither are involved |
I say both movies were cool!

The whole trilogy kicks ass imo, and no other zombie movies have stood the test of time like Romero's.
|
I agree. I wonder if any of them are on DVD?

Psychotic Panda.
I couldn't agree with you more mate. I thought the ending to the remake was a complete balls up. In my opinion though, that's the problem with remakes. Firstly, Im not a fan of em anyway. If a film is so good that people think it should be remade, then that's exactly the reason you SHOULDN'T remake it. Leave the classics alone. I mean... I've heard some awful reasons why remakes are better... 'Well it's in colour instead of black and white'... 'The acting is better(???)'... 'The production is better'... Simple. These people just dont know what the hell they are talking about! And a lot of these people control the future of our horror viewing! Thats worrying! RFlagg. |
We'll just have to wait and see!

The number one thing that stuck out to me randall was your comment about the acting. Tony Todd was awesome. NOBODY else was. I wanted to kill cooper, but it's not that hard to play an asshole. I typically hate remakes of all kinds. This is why i wish Pdidy puffy shawn combs would die a horrible fucking death (godamn plagarist...) But for the dead movies....... I have to sat, I like the NOTLD remake a lOT (i absolutely hate barbara in the first. Stupid bitch.....) and I can't wait for Dawn. Name aside, it looks freaky. |
. . . awesomely awesomely awesome. The original NOTLD is Godly.
It and it's two sequels are beautiful. The 1990 remake was a disappointment to me, I was expecting more . .just more. The change in the endings just made me cringe. I think I flung something at the t.v. The remake of Dawn of the Dead kicked it, though. I liked it. Yeah, it was hella different and contradicted several things established in the original movies (zombies going after animals, the speed of the zombies, ect.) . . . but that why it was a recreation. I liked the ending of that one, though. It was great, because it lead you to believe that there were no survivors. Yay. |
Great movie. Both of them.
|
i have the original black and white version of night of the living dead its ok
|
Just ok?
That movie kicks ass!! HIGH PRIEST WISE |

Night Of The Living Dead
I rented this and I have heard that is supposed to be really good. Is it really that good?
|
Don't watch it.
|
Romero or savini?
color or b&w??? look for "day of the dawn of the night of the bride of the return of the attack of the flesh eating...." it's a redub of the original night of the living dead, it's funny! romero never copyrighted his original, so there are lots of bad remakes. savini's 80's color version is good. tom was george's makeup man for years (cameo in dawn of the dead as the motorcycle guy who sticks the machete in the zombie when the bikers storm the mall!)
zombies rule! ALL FLESH MUST BE EATEN!!!! |
One of the greatest low budget movies ever. Don't expect great special effects or brilliant acting, just a good old fashioned creepy little movie.

Low carb gingerbread and a regular eclair. That's the whole Montague and Capulett thing.

Are you serious?
It is only one of the greatest horror movies of all time. |
Definitely watch it if it's the original.
Not only is it a good, important horror movie, the quality of the image, the contrast in the black and white, makes it one of the most beautiful movies to look at that I've seen. Sam |
